Story: In Egypt, an archaeological expedition unearths an undefiled tomb. When a symbol of the Eye of Horus set into an inner door begins to glow, the Arab handlers run away in fear. But the expedition leader, Marcus Scarman, continues through the door...and screams as he is bathed in green light.

The TARDIS brings the Doctor and Sarah back to UNIT HQ - only they are about seventy years too early. The year is 1911, and the house belongs to Marcus Scarman, who is currently overseas on his expedition. Elsewhere in the house, a figure draped in black arrives through a portal in a mummy sarcophagus. It is Marcus, now deathly white and proclaiming himself to be the servant of Sutekh, bringer of death.

One of the ancient Osirian race who visited Egypt long ago, Sutekh is indeed bent on bringing death to all the universe. He is trapped inside the Egyptian pyramid where Scarman found him, and if he ever gets free, he will obliterate all life...everywhere. Through Scarman and his hulking robot mummies, Sutekh is about to achieve the freedom he so desperately desires, unless the Doctor and Sarah can find a way to thwart an alien with god-like powers.
