Megalomaniacs of the Week: the Rani, the Master

Story: The TARDIS is mysteriously pulled off course en route to Kew Gardens, and the Doctor and Peri find themselves in Killingworth during the Luddite rebellion. The Doctor is thrilled to be in ninteenth-century England during the Industrial Revolution, and immediately sets out to find eminent scientist George Stevenson.

But the Doctor is not the only Time Lord in Killingworth - in fact, he is one of three. The Master has also arrived in town with the intent of murdering some of the biggest minds of the Industrial Revolution. And then there is the Rani, renegade Time Lady and brilliant chemist. Her experiments to heighten the awareness of the aliens that inhabit the planet she rules have also inhibited their ability to sleep, so the Rani has been extracting chemicals from the brains of humans during various chaotic periods of human history.

The Doctor, of course, realizes that he must stop both of them. But the Rani's victims are left sleepless and agressive, and are more than willing to attack the Doctor and Peri. If that doesn't do the trick, the Rani has an arsenal of traps at her disposal. With one renegade Time Lord more than keeping the Doctor's hands full, will he and Peri be able to stop two? Or will Peri be turned into a tree for all eternity?
