Story: Ace has been wishing to see some of her old friends again, so the Doctor takes her back to her hometown of Perivale. Typically, Ace thinks, the town is as boring as usual. She can't even find any of her old friends - they're not at the pub, they're not on Horsenden Hill, and they especially aren't at the youth club, where Ace gets a lecture on responsibility from a rather violent army sergeant.

Ace soon learns that most of the old gang have disappeared - actually vanished - and no-one knows where or why. The Doctor is too concerned about the number of stray cats, even going so far as to set out tins of cat food to attract the one he wants.

But then Ace finds out why her friends have vanished. While cuddling a stray black cat, a huge cheetah-like creature on a horse appears in front of her, and teleports her to a sandy planet with a pink sky where the Cheetah People are hunting her friends down. To make things worse, the Doctor's arch-enemy, the Master, is there. The planet itself has changed him...as it begins to change Ace. And if they cannot find a way to get back home, the planet will self-destruct and take them all with it.
