Megalomaniac of the Week: the Master
Story: When the Master is put on trial and exterminated by the Daleks, his last request is that the Doctor return his remains to Gallifrey. The Doctor agrees, but en route, what is left of the Master manages to escape from its container and into the console, causing a timing malfunction. The Doctor materializes the TARDIS in San Francisco, 1999, in search of a beryllium atomic clock to fix the malfunction, but when he steps outside, he is caught in a hail of bullets. At the hospital, his double heartbeat confuses the doctors, who summon heart surgeon Grace Holloway. She attempts to operate, and in the process, causes the Doctor to regenerate.
Meanwhile, the Master - in the form of a gelatinous snake-like creature - slips into the body of one of the paramedics at the hospital. Knowing that this temporary body will not last long, he engineers a plan to steal the Doctor's body. To this end, he opens the TARDIS' link to Gallifrey's Eye of Harmony; if the Doctor looks into it, his soul will be stolen.
The Doctor manages to get over his post-regeneration amnesia, but now he has an even greater problem - unless the Eye of Harmony is closed, it will turn the Earth inside-out within three hours. With help from Grace, he must get the components he needs to fix the TARDIS, as well as foil the Master's plan, or the turn of the millennium will be anything but a cause for celebration.
Notes: "The Enemy Within" is actually a non-official alternative title for the FOX TV movie. Technically, it seems to have no title other than "Doctor Who", but that seems a bit boring for an episode guide. Personally, although I'm not thrilled with this title, it's the one I use.
