Story: In pursuit of a potentially-dangerous spacecraft that crashes in the center of London, the TARDIS arrives in 1941 during the height of the Blitz. With air raids going on around them all night long, Rose encounters the roguish Captain Jack Harkness and his futuristic spacecraft, while the Doctor tries to ingratiate himself with the leader of a gang of orphans who are trying to avoid starvation on the war-torn streets.

The Doctor and Rose soon learn that something even more terrifying than German bombers is haunting the streets of London: a small child, wearing a gas mask, calling plaintively for his mummy. To touch the child means a fate worse than death. What is its connection to the gang of orphans? Is the Doctor right that the crashed spaceship is the cause of all the trouble, or is there another explanation? And can the Doctor, Rose and Jack escape the Child's zombie army?
