Story: The Doctor, Rose and Jack awaken to find themselves no longer on board the TARDIS. The Doctor is trapped in a brightly-colored flat with three other people and cameras everywhere, Jack is attended to by two androids who seem intent on modifying his fashion style, and Rose is bustled into a television studio where she has been made a contestant on a quiz show. Before long, each of them discovers that their situations are not so innocent as they might appear; people who lose these competitions aren't simply escorted off set with a consolation prize, they are blasted into dust.

The Doctor soon realizes that someone must be in charge of programming, and determines to escape his captivity, rescue his companions and confront the person or persons responsible. But, as usual, things aren't quite as simple as the Doctor hopes. The situation that the TARDIS crew are in is one of the Doctor's own making, and the power behind the scenes is one of the Doctor's worst fears...
