Lady Adrasta is one of the rulers of the planet Chloris, and a rich one at that - she owns the only metal mine on the entire planet, from which all the metal on the planet once came. The shortage of metal means there are no metal tools on Chloris, and as a result no more mines can be dug. Because of this, Adrasta has a monopoly on Chloris' metal. Her mine was eventually closed, in part to enable Adrasta to maintain her grip on the metal industry and in part so that she could use it as a very large prison for a very large creature.
Fearing that a trade agreement with the planet Tythonus would weaken her control over the planet by introducing another source of metal, Adrasta had their ambassador thrown into the mine. She began calling the mine "the Pit" and used it as a means of execution. If ever anyone failed her, even in the smallest of ways, she threw them into the Pit to be "eaten alive" by the Tythonian ambassador, which she called "the Creature". Such frighteningly direct names terrified her servants and kept them obedient.
Such directness is very much a part of Adrasta's personality. She is a very forthright woman; she asks direct questions of people and expects to be given a direct answer. Adrasta is accustomed to getting what she wants, and she wastes no time on small talk. As far as she is concerned, succinct and direct is the way to be. Frivolity - except, perhaps, showing off her metallic wealth - is not in her vocabulary. Adrasta is a highly intelligent person, and very calculating in what she does. She is demanding, and insists on perfection from her subjects. When displeased, she is quite ruthless, and will have people killed at the drop of a hat. If her servants are not around to do it for her, Adrasta is not above using the dagger she carries sheathed on her person.
Adrasta's special weapons are the Wolfweeds, tumbleweed-like plants that are specially grown in her nurseries. Controlled by the whip of her Huntsman, the Wolfweeds roll through the undergrowth of Chloris to attack their target en masse. They swarm over their target, keeping it pinned to the ground, and exude a web-like substance that shrouds it. Whether or not they can kill their prey is unknown, but they are effective at immobilizing. They also have some kind of instinct that senses danger.
But for all her strength and determination, Adrasta is terrified that the Tythonians will seek vengeance upon her for having imprisoned their ambassador. The ambassador itself terrifies her as well, for she knows that it would kill her given a chance. In the end, all of her carefully-reinforced empire comes toppling down on her when her Huntsman learns of her evil deeds. He sets the Wolfweeds on Adrasta, and while she is pinned to the ground, the Tythonian ambassador smothers her.
