The Horda are creatures native to the planet where the Mordee expedition landed. They roam in the jungles, apparently as individuals rather than in groups. They look vaguely like a cross between a worm and a fish, with what appears to be a compound eye on the front of their head. Horda are extremely vicious, and will strike at anything that moves. Their powerful bite is difficult to disengage. Ten of them will strip the flesh from a man's arm before he can even scream.
Horda are collected by the Sevateem for use in a trial they call the Test of the Horda, in which the participant is balanced on a board over an ever-widening gap. Beneath him is a pit of ravenous Horda, eager to devour him if the gap should widen enough that the board snaps under the pressure. If the participant can halt the gap by severing a weighted rope with a crossbow bolt, then he has passed the test. If he cannot...then he is dead.
