The appropriately-named Kamelion is a chameleon-like robot, capable of infinite form and personality. As a projection of mental energy can overcome his personality circuits, Kamelion is little more than a slave. The form it takes is usually dependent on the person controlling it; Kamelion responds to the dominant personality, or to strong mental images, and is controlled by concentration and psychokinetics. It does, however, have a will of its own, which it will exercise when a form is not being imposed on it.
When he changes form, Kamelion's body is surrounded by either pink or silvery-blue swirls. In between the anthropoid and robotic forms is an intermediate stage known as psychomorphic fringing. This stage looks like a silver version of one of Kamelion's recent forms, and appears to be useful as a "comfort zone" to which Kamelion can retreat when he is undergoing some sort of psychic struggle. His psychocircuits can be rather vulnerable - inducing a sympathetic reaction in them causes something akin to a heart attack.
Kamelion was created by the earlier invaders of the planet Xeraphas, used as a tool in their invasion. Kamelion remained on Xeraphas after the invasion, and he was instrumental in helping the Master escape from the planet. The Master brought Kamelion back with him to England during the Middle Ages, where he hoped to use the robot to prevent the signing of the Magna Carta. Kamelion decided to travel on with the Doctor, but the Master's control over him was not completely broken. After Kamelion had been cruelly forced to do the Master's bidding on Sarn, he pleaded with the Doctor to destroy him, guilty over the difficulties that he had caused. The Doctor complied, and destroyed Kamelion using the Master's Tissue Compression Eliminator.
