Story: Having said their farewells to Ben and Polly, the Doctor and Jamie are set to return to the TARDIS and depart - but when they arrive, they find the TARDIS being abducted and driven away! With a little fancy footwork, the Doctor manages to track his ship to the antiquities shop of Edward Waterfield. Waterfield's speciality is Victorian reproductions which are so perfect as to be indistinguishable from the real thing. But something about him is suspicious - he seems to be unfamiliar with current slang, and behind the secret door in his office is a compartment full of anachronistic technology...
When the Doctor and Jamie arrive at his shop, the Doctor immediately notices that Waterfield's "reproductions" are, in fact, actual Victorian antiques...only they are all brand new. More investigating takes them to the hidden door and the secret room beyond, only to be overcome by a cloud of gas. While they are unconscious, Waterfield enters and activates the machinery - it is a transmat, which transports them back to 1866.
Once the Doctor and Jamie have regained consciousness, Waterfield admits the truth: he and his partner Maxtible were experimenting in time travel, and during one experiment with static electricity, their house was invaded by Daleks. The Daleks took Waterfield's daughter Victoria hostage and forced him to travel to the future to lure the Doctor back to 1866. They have plans for the Doctor, and while they hold Victoria and the TARDIS hostage, the Doctor cannot help but aid them in their plans. But what is the ultimate goal of their experiments with the nature of humanity? While the Daleks hope to launch their race into their greatest victory yet, the Doctor realizes that this may be his opportunity to bring about the destruction of their malevolent influence once and for all...
