Story: The Doctor is delighted when the TARDIS materializes in the Tibetan Himalayas in 1935; he had visited the nearby Detsen monastery previously, and now sees an opportunity to return their ghanta, a holy bell. He takes the ghanta and descends alone to the monastery while Jamie and Victoria, bored, decide to take a look at the scenery.

But none of them gets quite what they anticipate. The Doctor expects the welcome of a lifetime at the monastery when he presents the ghanta, but instead of open arms, he is greeted by swords. An English anthropologist named Travers, in the Himalayas searching for the Yeti, saw a furry creature kill his companion John the night before; and as the Doctor arrives wearing a furry coat and carrying Travers' haversack, Travers decides he must be the guilty party, and the Doctor is locked up. Meanwhile, Jamie and Victoria have found large tracks outside the TARDIS, and they follow the trail to a cave which appears to be man-made. When they enter it to investigate, they find a pyramid of glowing silver spheres...and a large furry creature enters the cave behind them, blocking their escape and attacking Jamie...

A malevolent force is gathering on the slopes of the mountain, and the Doctor, Jamie and Victoria must win the trust of the frightened and suspicious monks in order to defeat it. And although great danger lurks outside the monastery, with savage Yeti roaming the slopes, the greatest danger lurks inside...barred behind the monastery doors with the TARDIS crew.
