Story: The Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Vicki are busy discussing their adventures in the Crusades when time takes a bizarre turn. Suddenly they are standing, frozen still, as the TARDIS materializes on a desolate planet. When they come round, they find themselves dressed not in their crusading garb, but in their ordinary clothing. Vicki accidentally breaks a glass of water, but it reforms before her eyes. Certain that something strange is going on, they decide to venture outside the Ship.

Their journey across the sandy surface of the planet leaves neither footprints nor any clue as to what is going on, but eventually the TARDIS crew arrive at a building. They are unable to enter until a pair of aliens exit it, and adding to the general level of weirdness is the fact that the aliens apparently cannot see them.

Inside, the building is a sort of museum, with exhibits on all sorts of alien life and technology, including a Dalek. And the oddest thing yet happens when the Doctor, Barbara, Ian and Vicki enter a room to see themselves, enclosed in four glass cases, beside the TARDIS. The Doctor realizes that the TARDIS has jumped a time track, allowing them to see into their own future. And unless they can somehow alter the timeline, that future includes them as exhibits in a giant space museum...
