Story: The TARDIS materializes near Troy in 1200 BC, very close to a swordfight between Hector of Troy and Achilles of Greece. While Vicki and Steven stay in the TARDIS, the Doctor goes outside, and thanks to a fortunate set of coincidences he is hailed as Zeus. The Doctor, of course, has no interest in masquerading as a god, but his attempts to leave are blocked. He is instead bundled off to be a sort of military advisor to the Greeks. Steven's attempt to rescue the Doctor is terribly botched, and the TARDIS lost. With few options, the Doctor is forced to admit the truth...

Meanwhile, the TARDIS has found its way to Troy. The prophetess Cassandra fears it, having dreamt the previous night about a gift from the Greeks would cause the death of them all, and wishes it destroyed. Hoping for a sign from the gods as to what should be done, the Trojans get one in the form of Vicki, who quickly denies being a god. Cassandra sees her as a rival, but the other Trojans take a shine to Vicki, and they immediately take her in.

The Doctor is forced to work on a plan to destroy Troy, and rescuing Vicki from the doomed city seems extremely difficult. Things take a turn for the worse when Steven, narrowly avoiding death, is captured and taken back to Troy - where he and Vicki are accused of being spies. With scant hours until the destruction of Troy that all the TARDIS crew know is to come, can they be reunited safely and avoid being impaled, incarcerated or immolated?
