Story: Desperate to find adequate medicine to help Steven recover from a wound he suffered in Troy, the Doctor immediately sets out from the TARDIS when it lands on the planet Kembel. Before he can get far, he is attacked and immobilized by Bret Vyon, a member of the latest Space Security Service expedition to Kembel whose partner was recently killed by the Daleks. He takes the Doctor's key, intending to escape Kembel in the TARDIS, but Katarina refuses to help him. The Doctor escapes and returns to the TARDIS in time to stop Vyon before going out to explore again. Vyon eventually sees the error of his ways and helps Katarina to save Steven's life.

A greater threat soon emerges - the Daleks, who have formed an Alliance made up of some of the most powerful figures in the galaxy. Together, they plan to build the ultimate weapon - a Time Destructor - that will allow the Daleks to conquer the entire galaxy. The Doctor, Steven, Katarina and Vyon infiltrate the Daleks' conference and realize that they must warn the Earth.

At first hunted, then aided, by efficient SSS agent Sara Kingdom, the time travellers are again chased all around the galaxy and all through time as they try to figure out how to defeat the Daleks. But this time, the stakes are even higher...and so are the losses.

Notes: Until the Trial of a Time Lord season with fourteen episodes, this was the longest Doctor Who story ever transmitted. As the Trial was composed of at least four separate storylines, this story still holds the title of longest continuing narrative. It was also preceded by an episode-length teaser, T/A.
