Created by thremmatologist Professor Lasky, the Vervoids are tall bipedal plants that grow in upright pods. The full-grown pods are stable when only illuminated under low light, but if exposed to high-intensity light, they will hatch. Although intended as ready-made servants, the Vervoids have one slight flaw that prevents them from fulfilling their purpose - they have an overwhelming hatred for all animalkind, and are intent upon destroying it.
Inside each of a Vervoid's sepal-like hands are extendable structures similar to flowers which can embed venomous thorns in flesh. Vervoids are capable of producing an odorous gas, similar to marsh gas, that asphyxiates their victims at high enough concentrations. Vervoids are very intelligent, being able to figure out the operation of some human devices.
If even a single Vervoid leaf falls on fertile soil, a Vervoid will grow. Aside from this impressive feat, they have a life cycle like any other plant. This cycle can be accelerated with vionesium, a mineral similar to magnesium that releases high amounts of light when ignited, thus killing the Vervoid.
