And now this "spoon" thing. I don't know how you put up with him, Benny. * TeganJovanka pulls off her shoe and shakes the pebbles out * TeganJovanka replaces her shoe * BennySummerfield-Kane is wearing chinos, DMs, a white teeshirt, a safari jacket and a white fedora * RomanaII is wearing her "schoolgirl" outfit * LaVacheHaemovorique is wearing a leather collar with silver bell...not necessarily what it seems... No Doctor to tell us to make tea or explain something perfectly obvious because he likes to sound superior. I thought we were going to the remains of some old city... * Bethani flies around the pasture and thinks about dropping cow patties * LaVacheHaemovorique rings her bell, sending power surges through the crop circle Wow - did you guys just see that?! * BennySummerfield-Kane takes a swig from her hip flask :looking surly: All I know is that we have been walking for hours...and my feet hurt. It's dark already, and there is nobody for miles but those cows... * TeganJovanka turns to Romana, and motions over to the cows * LaVacheHaemovorique realizes who the three women are and moos to Bethani to retreat * LaVacheHaemovorique cancels the signal from the crop circle and meanders away See, nothing but COWS out here. * BennySummerfield-Kane decides it was the lack of booze which made her see the flying cow * Bethani hides behind a tree Those are very strange looking herbivores... What? A cow is a cow. What's so funny about them? * Bethani bats her cow eyes * LaVacheHaemovorique reluctantly takes a bite of grass Damn - now I'm sounding like I did when I was with the Doctor... They're taking altogether too much interest in us, I think. * LaVacheHaemovorique walks away nonchalantly * TeganJovanka gives Romana a strange look What? THOSE cows? * LaVacheHaemovorique moos as though she had never seen Romana, Tegan, and Benny * Bethani pointedly stares at the ground I could have sworn they were watching us, just now. * LaVacheHaemovorique pretends to just have noticed them * LaVacheHaemovorique walks over and snuffs at Tegan, then turns around and walks off again * TeganJovanka grins See, just plain ol' farm animals... They don't smell right. You sound like you need a drink, Romana. * TeganJovanka regards Romana Well, I guess not...but I still have the strangest feeling. * Bethani sniffs at some grass and eats some of it I think you need a break...and WE need some food... * TeganJovanka looks up and down the road * LaVacheHaemovorique wonders if she should let loose a cow pie? Food - yes, that would be good right now. * LaVacheHaemovorique hears the word "food" and moves toward the settlement * LaVacheHaemovorique calls Bethani * Bethani politely turns her head and spits out the grass where no one can see Well, are those fruit trees? * TeganJovanka gestures near the cows * Bethani walks over towards LaVache on all fours * LaVacheHaemovorique heads for the lit house in the distance The fruits look familiar. Are they apples? Are they safe to eat? * TeganJovanka pulls apple off a tree and sniffs * Bethani hungrily heads over towards the food house * BennySummerfield-Kane wishes she was more familiar with the 20th century * RomanaII is unfamiliar with many forms of Earth flora * Bethani smiles carnivourously Well, if they are apples, they are fine to eat. * TeganJovanka grins Hey, a regular apple! * TeganJovanka pulls apples off and tosses them to Romana and Benny Thanks, Tegan. * TeganJovanka bites greedily into her apple * LaVacheHaemovorique reaches the food house and indicates that Bethani should break down the primitive obstruction barring their entrance * BennySummerfield-Kane watches to make sure they aren't poisonous * RomanaII polishes her apple on the front of her dress before biting into it * Bethani takes out a key and unlocks the door * TeganJovanka eats, and looks at Benny... What's wrong? They're delicious. Say, Tegan, since you're such an expert on farm animals, just why are those cattle breaking into that house? * Bethani walks into the dwelling, food on her mind WHAT???? * LaVacheHaemovorique follows Bethani in and shuts the door * BennySummerfield-Kane takes another swig * TeganJovanka turns to look over at the house Romana, are you kidding me? She's not kidding you. * Bethani munches on a femur * TeganJovanka looks from Benny to Romana And closing the door after themselves...you don't see that every day. * LaVacheHaemovorique slurps at an exposed vein * LaVacheHaemovorique moos in contentment * TeganJovanka wonders if something is wrong with Romana and Benny Don't you think we ought to investigate? * rutan_scout lurks in the distance, observing * BennySummerfield-Kane wonders if something is wrong with Tegan * Bethani moos softly, enjoying the feeling of warmth that follows a feeding * TeganJovanka rolls her eyes at Romana * LaVacheHaemovorique finishes up her meal and looks to see if Bethani is done * RomanaII starts over to the house *sigh* MoooooooOOoo *burp* Okay, if it will make you two feel better. * LaVacheHaemovorique leads Bethani out through the back entry * Bethani sneaks out of the house on tippy hoofs * TeganJovanka runs behind Romana * RomanaII reaches the house and opens the door and looks inside. She closes it quickly You don't want to go in there. I would feel better being nowhere near intelligent cows. * rutan_scout now wonders about the safety of British beef * LaVacheHaemovorique slips away into the cover of the cornstalks * TeganJovanka bumps into Romana Why, what's wrong? I don't want to know. You DON'T want to see what's in there. * BennySummerfield-Kane notices the smell of flesh - like an abattoir Oh, gaaaaw... * TeganJovanka opens the door, brushing Romana aside I told her...she didn't listen. * Bethani flies back to the pasture * TeganJovanka looks in and screams * BennySummerfield-Kane plugs her ears * TeganJovanka slams the door shut OHMYGOD!!!!!!!! That shouting was not necessary. The herbivores on this planet are going for a wider diet, it seems. * TeganJovanka is horror-stricken... Well - I suppose I should see what the hooplah is about. * BennySummerfield-Kane opens the door and sees... Oh my - corpses everywhere. But where's the blood? Those people...were...eaten... * TeganJovanka stares at Romana Man-eating cows??? Well, one of them was a woman, I believe. * Bethani moos and rolls around on the grass, cleaning all traces of blood * Bethani is a fastidious cow :sputter: Cows don't eat people! * LaVacheHaemovorique finally reaches the pasture, having taken the longer route, and lies down on the grass These ones evidently did. I've seen something like this before... You have?! * TeganJovanka puts her hand over her mouth to keep from gagging Yes, on a small planet in the Orion group. It was terrible. The herbivorous food animals rose up and slaughtered the sentient population. WHAT?! * TeganJovanka looks around in fright * rutan_scout touches one of the cows and takes the form of a cow * LaVacheHaemovorique is startled as one of the Herd is transformed * Bethani moos in puzzlement * TeganJovanka's mouth is agape * RomanaII is very cool about all this carnage The Doctor never took me there, thank God. Afterward, when all the bipedal sentients were gone, the animals fell on one another. In the end, there was no animal life left on the planet. Romana, what should we do? But, this is the 20th century - surely I would know if the cows went mad? * rutan_scout moos to blend in * TeganJovanka looks into the tall grass for killer cows * BennySummerfield-Kane taps Tegan on the shoulder * rutan_scout sniffs the other cows to blend in Well, Romana, I think it's up to you now. * LaVacheHaemovorique gets up and wanders through the Herd Killer cows aren't my forte, ya know. First, we need to take blood samples from the cows, to see if they've been infected with a virus, I suppose. Of course, they may not cooperate. * TeganJovanka is aghast WHAT! You want us to go over there and see if they are killer cows! Yeah right, like I am going to stick a sharp object in a cow that can eat me... Well, we have to do something...don't we? * rutan_scout licks the other cows to blend in [at this point, little_wooden_boy enters the story and accomplishes the amazing feat of being in two places practically at once] I can help there, Romana, I'm a scientist. * Bethani slaps rutan cow for his presumptuousness * little_wooden_boy puts a needle in one of the cows and collects some blood * Bethani kicks backwards at the stinging nettle * little_wooden_boy runs with the blood to RomanaII and hands it over * BennySummerfield-Kane notices the wooden boy * rutan_scout produces methane to blend in Um - what is that wooden boy there for - and how much science do you know? I know a lot of science. Well, well, ask and ye shall receive. * TeganJovanka looks down in shock at the wooden boy * BennySummerfield-Kane takes another swig and offers the flask to Tegan * LaVacheHaemovorique strolls up to the Rutan scout and sniffs it * TeganJovanka gratefully takes a BIG swig * TeganJovanka returns the flask * rutan_scout feels like he has successfully joined the Herd Go ahead, Romana, try to find out something with the blood. Now if I only had some equipment to analyse this...got anything in your purse, Benny? * LaVacheHaemovorique nudges the Rutan scout, trying to establish telepathic contact Like a microscope? * TeganJovanka pokes the boy and knocks on his head HE'S WOOD! * BennySummerfield-Kane takes out a microscope auw Will this do? Yes! I knew I could rely on you. I suppose that purse is something like the Doctor's pockets. Can I look through it? Please? * Bethani glares at the Rutan scout * rutan_scout resumes licking the other cows Um - didn't I say that already? * LaVacheHaemovorique is rather puzzled by the new addition to the Herd * Bethani licks her cow lips Yes - it was a wedding gift from his 8th persona. * Bethani goes over toward the Rutan scout He said it would come in handy some day. * Bethani moos pointedly at LaVache Well, let's see what we can see... * rutan_scout gives bethani a bath * LaVacheHaemovorique is startled by Bethani's incisive comment and quickly backs away from the odd cow Hmmm, no sign of a virus here... Turn on the light of the microscope. It is an electron microscope - doesn't use light. * rutan_scout sees a large tick attached to the little wooden boy * RomanaII was very slick making the micro slice for electron microscopy out here in the middle of a cow pasture * little_wooden_boy runs away just far enough so the Rutan scout can't touch him HEY! Where are you going!!! * TeganJovanka looks out after the boy * little_wooden_boy walks back, head bent * Bethani sees the stinging nettle running towards her * LaVacheHaemovorique wonders if he should chew up the stinging nettle for Bethani? * LaVacheHaemovorique glowers at the little wooden boy Do you see anything yet, Romana? * Bethani moos assent to LaVache Little boy - those cows seem to be glaring at you. * little_wooden_boy looks back at the cows * LaVacheHaemovorique walks up to the little wooden boy and chomps on his arm * rutan_scout gives Bethani another bath for no particular reason * LaVacheHaemovorique suddenly realizes she is standing right next to Romana Hey, what do you want? * Bethani steps on the little wooden boy * TeganJovanka sees the boy being bitten and rushes forward * BennySummerfield-Kane sees a spaceship coming down * LaVacheHaemovorique sees that the signal she sent was transmitted after all * LaVacheHaemovorique clamps the little wooden boy in her mouth and gallops off as fast as she can Help, help... * Bethani flies into the air * TeganJovanka takes chase after the boynapper * LaVacheHaemovorique sends sonic currents from her bell toward Tegan Help, help me, somebody, anybody, help... * RomanaII looks up from the microscope and wonders what the fuss is about * Bethani swoops around the field dropping cow patties I can't believe this - now a spaceship! * BennySummerfield-Kane ducks from cow patties * TeganJovanka stops in her tracks, mesmerized * little_wooden_boy suddenly thinks of something - he has got some grass in his pocket * rutan_scout shocks Tegan, paralyzing her temporarily * TeganJovanka falls down in the pasture * little_wooden_boy hands some grass to the cow that's holding him * LaVacheHaemovorique despises grass and continues holding on to the little wooden boy Hmmm, doesn't work that well. No Dutch cow, I think. * Bethani pulls out a walkie talkie and moos the identifying code to the ship croissant, pepe le pew * LaVacheHaemovorique spots another, different, ship approaching - looks like an ice pyramid * little_wooden_boy pokes the cow in her eyes with his wooden fingers * LaVacheHaemovorique screeches and drops the little wooden boy * little_wooden_boy runs away, very fast Nanananana, you can't get me!!! * RomanaII builds a radio receiver from parts of the electron microscope * RomanaII listens into the transmissions of the ship * TeganJovanka is still lying stunned in the pasture * Bethani drops a cow pattie on the retreating wooden boy, killing him [well, that's not exactly how it happened, but as nothing he did subsequently actually contributed to the storyline, I invoked editor's prerogative and deleted him from the rest of the story *cringe* Shall I reinsert him?] That's it...the Rutans! Rutans? Not again! * LaVacheHaemovorique decides to press her luck and runs toward Tegan, hoping for a meal * rutan_scout recognizes RomanaII from somewhere, but can't quite place her * TeganJovanka begins to come to in the grass * BennySummerfield-Kane rushes to push Tegan out of the way of the cow * LaVacheHaemovorique bellows at Benny * LaVacheHaemovorique bares her sharp non-cud-chewing teeth * Bethani gallops through the air and swoops down at Benny * BennySummerfield-Kane grabs Tegan and starts running * Bethani comes inches from Benny and swoops up * Bethani does this several times * TeganJovanka is dragged along by Benny * RomanaII jumps up and runs at LaVache waving her arms to confuse the evil cow Grief, that was close! * LaVacheHaemovorique is successfully confused and cannot figure out after whom she should go * rutan_scout sends in a report * Bethani nibbles on the Rutan scout Come on, you Australian bag of bricks, help me out here. * LaVacheHaemovorique decides for Benny, as she is less threatening * LaVacheHaemovorique switches her focus back to Benny again * BennySummerfield-Kane grunts from the effort of carrying a half-consious Tegan * TeganJovanka is now running on her own steam * TeganJovanka runs, puffing hard... I got zapped or something! * LaVacheHaemovorique changes her focus again and pursues Tegan, leaving Benny to Bethani * TeganJovanka looks over her shoulder... IT'S AFTER US!! * BennySummerfield-Kane and Tegan head for the second, Rutan, spaceship * Bethani lands on the ground and continues the attack * RomanaII identifies the Rutan scout among the herd and goes to him Why are you doing this? * rutan_scout is half annoyed/half excited Tegan - you go right and I'll go left! * Bethani swoops down to stand in the way of Benny Well, I'm waiting for an explanation! * LaVacheHaemovorique leaps for Tegan * Bethani moos a challenge How the cruk can cows run so fast! * LaVacheHaemovorique wishes she could fly like Bethani * Bethani charges Benny * TeganJovanka darts right, away from the evil cow * LaVacheHaemovorique lands on an empty spot of grass, moos again in anger, and continues chasing Tegan * BennySummerfield-Kane darts left * Bethani darts left after a short delay and continues chasing Benny Hello, Time Lord! * RomanaII realizes that Rutans have not concept of gender Make your cow-slaves stop this, right now! * BennySummerfield-Kane trips over a rake Damn! * Bethani stands over Benny, grinning ferally * TeganJovanka runs like mad * LaVacheHaemovorique runs like a vampiric cow, which she is * BennySummerfield-Kane sees the flying cow swooping over her * Bethani slowly walks up to Benny, savoring the moment * RomanaII concentrates on reaching the Rutan telephathically * LaVacheHaemovorique sends another sonic blast at Tegan * Bethani reaches for Benny's leg * rutan_scout refuses the telepathic link * TeganJovanka sees a long rake in the grass and stops to pick it up * BennySummerfield-Kane takes a fire extinguisher out of her bag and sprays the cow in the face * RomanaII forces the rutan to take the telepathic link * Bethani bellows in surprise Give in, Rutan, or I'll crush your mind! * Bethani backs up and starts to go for Romana * TeganJovanka turns and holds the rake handle towards the cow * rutan_scout tells Romana that the cows are not related to the Rutans' plans * LaVacheHaemovorique grabs the rake handle in her mouth and jerks it around * LaVacheHaemovorique tries to pull it out of Tegan's grip, but the woman is strong Oh, right...you just happen to be out here in the middle of the night pretending to be a cow, just for recreation? * TeganJovanka yanks back on the handle and shoves it into the cow's heart * Bethani opens her mouth and drips cow saliva over Romana * BennySummerfield-Kane is amazed that the cow flinches * LaVacheHaemovorique smiles and plucks out the rake handle (sorry, I've read the novelization to State of Decay one too many times ;>) * rutan_scout tries to resist Romana's mind * RomanaII swings around and glares at Bethani How dare you drool on a Time Lady! * Bethani looks contrite * BennySummerfield-Kane brandishes her extinguisher and goes toward Romana * TeganJovanka stands momentarily stunned * LaVacheHaemovorique also stands momentarily stunned as she tries to recover from the attack * rutan_scout tries to run as Romana is distracted * TeganJovanka runs like hell again * LaVacheHaemovorique wobbles a bit * Bethani realizes she has nothing to fear, and reaches again for Romana Now, you get back down on the grass where cows belong! * LaVacheHaemovorique rings her bell again, aiming yet another sonic blast at Tegan * BennySummerfield-Kane sprays the cows with the CO2 extinguisher * Bethani bellows and takes to the air * LaVacheHaemovorique screeches as a bit of CO2 penetrates her wound, and hurriedly turns away Down, down, you silly cows! * TeganJovanka turns and runs toward Benny Oh, bugger. You just can't intimidate a vampire cow like you used to. * LaVacheHaemovorique trots after Tegan, albeit at a slower pace * rutan_scout has escaped Romana, for now * Bethani swoops down and attacks the Rutan scout * BennySummerfield-Kane sprays Bethani with the fire extinguisher * TeganJovanka sees the cow is slowed and runs over to Benny I suppose it's middle age kicking in...first your ability to intimidate cows goes, then the next thing you know, you can't pick up a Time Lord in a bar to save your life. * Bethani sputters and attacks Benny * LaVacheHaemovorique follows Tegan, teeth bared, blood caking her upper lip * RomanaII starts to get depressed * BennySummerfield-Kane sprays again Maybe I'll regenerate a few times...that would pick up my spirits. I just hope this doesn't run out... * Bethani is overwhelmed by the smell of alcohol emanating from Benny * TeganJovanka yells to Benny Over here! * Bethani backs up in fear * BennySummerfield-Kane moves to Tegan * RomanaII mutters under her breath, seemingly oblivious to everything going on around her Benny, we have go and get out of here... * rutan_scout laughs at Bethani's feeble attack (imagine, our creatures attacking one of its creators!) * LaVacheHaemovorique becomes disgusted with her malfunctioning bell and the lack of food and trots back over to the crop circle Here's the extinguisher - do what you can. * Bethani joins LaVache and heads away from the fight * TeganJovanka takes the extinguisher but sees the evil cow retreating * LaVacheHaemovorique rings her bell once she is in the circle, beginning the flow of power once again Why are they giving up? * Bethani walks into the spaceship and settles down * RomanaII starts walking and comes to the Rutan scout again * rutan_scout scans Romana You, I know you're behind all this. What have you to say for yourself? * BennySummerfield-Kane goes to Tegan * Bethani brings out a tarot deck and starts reading her cards on the crop circle I answer only to my leader. * TeganJovanka looks at Benny with exhaustion * LaVacheHaemovorique moos in exultation as the power builds What is Romana doing????? * Bethani begins channeling cow power I'll leader you! Now, get control of those animals, and get control now! I don't know, but maybe we can help. * rutan_scout tries to electrocute Romana * LaVacheHaemovorique watches as the thrum causes her bell to throb with energy * Bethani exults as she obtains cow-like nirvana * RomanaII concentrates on telepathically intimidating the Rutan again * TeganJovanka walks with Benny over to Romana Soon, the meat of the world will be ours! * rutan_scout screams in anguish * BennySummerfield-Kane starts to concentrate to give Romana some support * LaVacheHaemovorique practices, sending a bolt of Antarean cow-energy at Romana * TeganJovanka concentrates for the hell of it, too * RomanaII swings around and glares at LaVache Tegan - think of Romana's eyes - maybe we can give her some support. * LaVacheHaemovorique grins idiotically at Romana and moos at her Do the words "two all-beef patties" mean anything to you? * Bethani decides that she needs to leave, and spontaneously explodes * LaVacheHaemovorique sobers and turns back to the crop circle * LaVacheHaemovorique concentrates on controlling the power so that there are no more accidental casualties * TeganJovanka concentrates with Romana and Benny Now, Rutan, you know you are defeated... tell us what your plan was. * rutan_scout tells Romana he cannot control them, death is the only control he has over them * LaVacheHaemovorique sends a bridging signal to a planet circling Antares * LaVacheHaemovorique moos as the signal gains strength * TeganJovanka wonders why they left the TARDIS in the first place I should have known, another daft plan to take over the Earth by people who can't even control their own cows! * BennySummerfield-Kane wonders if this trip will ever end I should have stayed in E-space. At least there, the vampires are humanoid. * TeganJovanka looks at the Rutan We need not control them, we only need to kill them when the time is right, like after the human race is extinguished. And how were you going to keep them from killing you? * BennySummerfield-Kane goes to the cow's ship and lobs a can of nitro-9 into the opening * LaVacheHaemovorique's moo escalates in pitch as twinkling points of light begin coming down the bridging signal Glad Ace gave me this as a wedding gift. They are no match for Rutan might! :whispering to Benny: The cow even looks evil, look at those beady eyes... Rutan might, my foot. They are easily dealt with, if you know how to kill them... You lie. Prove that you know how to kill them! That secret is not given to a lowly scout. Ha! You don't know! But i know how to kill humanoids! * LaVacheHaemovorique screeches again as the nitro-nine blows up the ship, killing the signal and the mid-transfer creatures within What was that, Benny? * LaVacheHaemovorique turns angrily and glowers at Benny * LaVacheHaemovorique gallops toward the female, baring her fangs That, my dear antipodean, was a great gift from a great friend.
