Wait, lad, you don't know what's in there! There goes Jamie, trying to impress Polly again. Doctor, I found a set o' pipes! Well, hurry up, you two! Coming, Doctor. * Jamie_ picks up the bagpipes and starts playing them with gusto Ah, good, Jamie! We can have a concert. Got any spoons on you, Doctor? * Seventh-Doc pulls out his spoons * BenJ covers his ears * Seventh-Doc hits Polly with his spoons Blimey mate, tone it down! * Seventh-Doc hits Ben with his spoons Hey - aren't those from Polly's spoon collection? * Polly whacks Seventh-Doc * Alien_In_The_Dark is whistling * Seventh-Doc drops his spoons Now cut that out! Jamie! * Jamie_ shrugs and starts playing the pipes again Put those away! * Jamie_ closes his eyes happily as the sound of the pipes echoes along the tunnel * Seventh-Doc listens for the whistling noise * Polly covers her ears JAMIE! Stop that! * Jamie_ lets the air out of the pipes slowly as he quits playing Why, what's the matter, Doctor? I thought I heard something - listen... Great, well, now everyone knows we're here. * Polly hears a rumbling noise...faintly * Jamie_ listens for five seconds Och, I don't hear anything, Doctor. I think it's your ears playin' tricks on ye again. * BenJ prepares to lecture Jamie Doctor, what's that noise? * Alien_In_The_Dark's stomach rumbles again * Seventh-Doc puts his hand over Jamie's and Polly's mouths Mmph hmm vmm? mmmmph! mmmhph! * Alien_In_The_Dark moves toward the sound of pipes There it is! * BenJ thinks the Doctor is ignoring him Of course I'm ignoring you, Ben - this is important! * Jamie_ thinks BenJ is lucky (Ben the Doctor only has two hands!) No! * Polly shrinks back from Alien_In_The_Dark * Polly swallows a shriek with a fist in her mouth * Jamie_ peers curiously at the alien Didn't you do a guest spot on Emmerdale last week? Go on, play, Jamie...quietly... * Jamie_ picks the pipes back up * Alien_In_The_Dark notices small furry bipeds playing with his arms * BenJ grimaces Er, what gives? * Alien_In_The_Dark snatches his 47th hand away Oh, er, sorry, small gesture of friendliness * Seventh-Doc doffs his hat to the alien * Jamie_ starts belting out a tune * Alien_In_The_Dark starts dancing in a lumbering sort of way * BenJ grabs Jamie Watch it, mate. * Jamie_ drops the pipes, making an awful racket Jamie! Ben! Doctor! * Polly jumps back at all the noise Jamie, pick up those pipes. * Jamie_ sighs and picks the pipes up again * Alien_In_The_Dark knocks the small furry biped with the thing on its head down * Jamie_ drops the pipes and picks up the Doctor * Seventh-Doc picks himself up and murmurs "fascinating" * Alien_In_The_Dark stops dancing * Jamie_ realizes the rough treatment has broken the bagpipes - hmmph. Where music? Me want music! Er, Doctor... Yes, Jamie? * Jamie_ points to the bagpipes Oh dear. Ben, what on earth are we going to do? Doctor! Let's get away. Polly, back away the way we came. You too, Ben and Jamie. But Doctor, he's friendly! He is, Jamie, but your bagpipes were drastically helping the level of amity in this room... * Polly doesn't need to be told twice Well Duchess, let's just 'ope the Doctor knows what 'e's doin' * Jamie_ demonstrates the Highland Fling to the alien * Alien_In_The_Dark starts jumping up and down * Polly grabs Ben's hand and pulls him back with her Me wants music! My leg! * Jamie_ clutches his shin * Alien_In_The_Dark moves toward where the noisy bipeds went * Alien_In_The_Dark notices the hairiest one in the skirt is down c'mon Polly! Polly? Polly!!!!! Doctor! We've lost Polly! Oh, where is that foolish girl! * Seventh-Doc helps Jamie up Ben, I don't think this is the right way to the TARDIS... ...Ben? * Polly whirls around, panicked Come on, Jamie, we haven't time... Doctor, I don't think I can walk just yet... * Jamie_ hobbles alongside the Doctor This way, Doctor! STOP, ALIEN! What??? * Alien_In_The_Dark is taken aback * Jamie_ jumps back at the Doctor's sudden force and then falls down again * Seventh-Doc hands the end of a string to Ben and tells him to try that tunnel to look for Polly, and not to drop the string * Alien_In_The_Dark notices that the furry biped with the thing on its head sounds just like daddy * BenJ looks for Polly Daddy? *Daddy?!* * Alien_In_The_Dark moves its arms out trying to feel for daddy * Jamie_ starts guffawing * Seventh-Doc shrugs I didn't have anything to do with its mother, I swear. * Jamie_ raises an eyebrow at the Doctor * Polly thinks she feels a tentacle tapping her on the shoulder and lets out a Polly scream [TM] EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKK! * Alien_In_The_Dark hears a loud noise in its southern most ears and squeals in pain What's it doin', Doctor? * BenJ hears a scream in the far distance * Polly's scream echoes round the cavern Hey, that's Vic - er, Polly! Alien! You've hurt this young Scottish studmuffin and made us lose the screaming one! * Alien_In_The_Dark stops struggling with the high-pitched furry one * Jamie_ puffs up his chest Well, I wouldna say studmuffin... Oh, all right. You're right, Doctor... * Jamie_ shrugs modestly Er, young Scottish lad... Daddy? Alien, please bring the screamer back to me. Daddy? Where is you? * Polly heads down a tunnel in the direction from which she thinks she came, trying to retrace her steps * Alien_In_The_Dark is not sure what screamer means, but pushes the high pitched furry biped toward the voice of his "daddy" I am not your father, I simply wish your co-operation. Co-oper-ay-shun? * Alien_In_The_Dark laughs at the high-pitched biped * Polly passes an intersection and trips over a string Co-operation - like... Working together. * Polly continues on straight down the tunnel Together? Me likes together. * Jamie_ nods happily at the alien's comprehension * Alien_In_The_Dark extends his arms out to encompass all the small furry bipeds Hugs! * Seventh-Doc hugs the alien * Jamie_ yelps as the alien snatches him from the ground * Seventh-Doc thanks Jamie for the vocabulary lesson Doctor! It's...throttling me... * Alien_In_The_Dark hugs really tight * Jamie_'s voice becomes raspy Alien, please be more gentle with my friends. * Seventh-Doc is gentle with the alien And I will love them and keep them and call their names George. * Jamie_ goes limp and his head lolls back...well, as much as it can, given that it's encompassed by alien limbs * Polly walks face first into something sticky and weblike * Alien_In_The_Dark lets go of the furry bipeds * Jamie_ flops to the ground yet again I want to be friend too! Their names are not George, I'm afraid. Oh. * Polly shrieks in fear and struggles against the weblike material but only becomes more entangled! How about Herbert? I'm the Doctor, this is my friend Jamie (the stud - er, Scot). This is Ben, and the screamer is Polly. And we would be pleased to have you as our friend. Me wants to show you me pet spider. * Jamie_ groans in pain as he regains consciousness Oh, I quite like spiders. * Polly forces herself to calm down and stop struggling Me likes friends. * Alien_In_The_Dark pats the Doctor on the back with arm #68 * Alien_In_The_Dark doesn't know its own strength * Polly takes a deep breath and hollers at the top of her lungs DOCCCCC-TOORRRRR!!!!!!!! Doctor! I hear Polly! Oh good. Polly! Do come along, dear girl, no dawdling in those caves! Me no like the loud noise! * Jamie_ woozily tries to stand up again Alien, can you help us find our friend Polly? Gently, please, she's fragile. Screamer is hurting me spiders! * Jamie_ accidentally puts his weight on his hurt leg OW!!! Alien, we'll try to quiet her. I do know the feeling well. How long are we going to talk to this bloody alien? Polly is in trouble! * Polly hears something approaching and hopes it's not what she fears it is... Please make it stop! POLLY! STOP THAT! * Alien_In_The_Dark moves toward its spider collection See - spide... wait - you not spider - you screamer biped. * Jamie_ tries again, and limps over to the Doctor * Seventh-Doc hurries towards Polly and claps a hand over her mouth * Jamie_ frowns as the Doctor scuttles off You're hurting the lungs of our friend, here. * BenJ, who has some medical naval training, looks at Jamie's leg * Polly sees a huge spider approaching her in the web * Jamie_ winces as Ben prods the bruised muscle Where is me spiders? What screamer do with spiders? Stay still, mate, let me 'ave a look. Och, all right, but ye dinna have to be so rough... Cor! It ain't broke, but it is bad. * Jamie_ grumbles something about stupid aliens and broken bagpipes * Alien_In_The_Dark puts out three arms to the screamer to pull her off the web * Polly screams and screams at the touch of the alien Polly, do stop that, you're giving us all hearing damage * BenJ takes out a hanky and ties it around Jamie's leg to stop infection * Jamie_ flexes his leg experimentally Hmm. Feels all right. Thanks. Alien, you're very strong - would you please help my friend and carry him? His leg is hurt. Och, Doctor, I'll be all right! Me help friends! * Jamie_ gapes as the alien approaches No no no -! * Alien_In_The_Dark takes hold of hairiest biped-in-skirt and pulls him up with 7 of its tentacles * Polly is trying to catch her breath and calm down Gaaaah...! * BenJ is astonished * Jamie_ flinches Me not hurt friend. Well, just make sure ye don't... * Polly runs and puts plenty of space between herself and the alien * Alien_In_The_Dark moves toward the cavern where his toys used to be before the biped broke them all ::mumbling:: I only broke *one*... [Me only had one] * BenJ follows the alien * Alien_In_The_Dark drops the hairy one on its bed * BenJ sees Jamie being tossed Aaah! * Jamie_ frowns, as the bed is really a big rock Ow, my - er... * Jamie_ rubs his bruised rear end So - where me spiders? What did screamer do with them? * Alien_In_The_Dark looks around its bedroom - wishing its daddy were here * Polly puts her hands on her hips and approaches the alien ::indignant:: Well, by screamer I suppose you mean me! Polly! Yes - you screamer, Polly. And I've done *nothing* with any of your nasty spiders! What about the spider on you back? * Polly gives out an unearthly shriek GET IT OFF GET IT OFF ME!!!! ACKKK, I have a huge bug on my back and YOU want ME to CALM DOWN!! * Jamie_ glances over the side of the bed I think I just found one... * Jamie_ scoots away from the spider Spider? Aye, a spider. * Jamie_ points * Alien_In_The_Dark moves to bed to see spider Hey, don't get so close! Oooh - a baby one! * Jamie_ is being smothered * Jamie_ thrashes about * Alien_In_The_Dark gets baby spider and puts it in an orifice for safe keeping Get that thing out of my mouth! (::mumbled around the spider::) * Alien_In_The_Dark plucks the baby spider from the screamer's back * Jamie_ is starting to freak out * Jamie_ is terrified that the alien is going to put THAT spider in his mouth, too * Polly calms down the instant the spider is removed WHEW! * Polly stays well back from the action, afraid of being caught in any more webs * Jamie_ finally turns and spits the spider out onto the "bed" Where is Mama spider? that is only Shitz and Fritz. Please, if ye find her, don't tell me... * Jamie_ curls up into a little ball * Alien_In_The_Dark notices that Fritz is out of the orifice, so it puts the spider in another * Jamie_ chuckles as he watches the spider go in Polly's mouth * Polly spits out the spider and faints! Hairy Jamie - you do good to help - you look like spider food. * Jamie_ bolts upright I don't think so! * Alien_In_The_Dark picks up the hairy bundle and takes it to the web * BenJ has wandered off * Jamie_ squirms I thought you were my friend! * BenJ realizes he is lost * Jamie_ reaches for his skein dhu * Jamie_ can't get to his sock Me is friend - you is friend. Let me - I mean, DON'T let me go! * Alien_In_The_Dark uses arms 20 - 25 to hold Jamie at bay Me not let you go! * Polly wakes up and sees Jamie dangling over the edge * Jamie_ grabs a couple of arms at random and hangs on for dear life Mama spider - have much good furry meat for you! * BenJ hears something * BenJ turns around and sees the biggest spider he's ever seen Er - mama spider, I taste awful! Need much gravy! * Alien_In_The_Dark moves the bait around to look like live food * Jamie_ IS live food! Stop that! What be gravy? * BenJ yelps, but is immediately grabbed Gravy...it's, er...sauce made with meat. Some friend you are. * MamaSpider scurries back to a corner * SylvDoc notices a bundle of silk on the ground Ben?! * BenJ is out cold What are you doing laying about like that? We have work to do. * Jamie_ finds that his hair is plastered to the web, completely immobilizing him * Polly follows the string back but along the way she thinks she sees something in one of the caverns * BenJ comes to * SylvDoc hurries over to the silken bundle * Polly goes over to investigate -- it's Ben! Ben, Ben please wake up! D-d-doctor? Polly? Hmmm - this silk is as strong as dalekanium - there's no way to get it off. * Jamie_ glares around, looking for ANYBODY - except the Alien and that spider It's me, Polly, and I think we might be able to help the others get away! * BenJ struggles I can't free myself, Doctor! * Polly takes a fallen stalactite and cuts the web away from Ben There, that should do it! How did you do that? Polly - what have you got there? * SylvDoc has an almost scared look in his face at the sight of what is in her hands * Jamie_ hopes his tartan isn't ruined * BenJ gets up, all sticky * Polly hands SylvDoc a small can Where's Jamie? Loyhargil? Why did you bring that here? * Jamie_ flops uselessly around on the web Doctor, I think it's bug spray -- if it works on Earth spiders Doctor! Where's Jamie? [So the Rani was really after bug spray?] * SylvDoc mutters under his breath about the incompetence of his companions ["I have the bug spray! Nothing can stop me now! *mad laughter*"] Well, maybe it can disorient these giant spiders long enough for us to get away. Bug spray - of course it isn't bug spray - my companion Ace put it in this can for safe keeping. If you read the other side of the label it says, and I quote: Loyhargil - for a truly horrible time, Hold in an enclosed space and push trigger. [The Rani was really after very EXPLOSIVE bug spray. Hmm.] [Oh, the CAN was for Loyhargil bug spray, but it's full of nitro. Got it. :>] [funny that Loyhargil was being sold in supermarkets and the Rani went to all that trouble...*laugh*] * SylvDoc carefully puts the can in an orifice - I mean, pocket Yeah, well, Doctor, remember, *I* don't read Old High Gallifreyan very well!
