Oh...just never got around to it, I suppose. * Kinda-woman stands near the edge of the clearing where the TARDIS has landed * The_Seed bounces I think you'll enjoy the variety of flora to be found on...oh, hello, what's this? * Doc2 regards the seed * Peri_Brown doesn't notice the bouncing seed and walks over to a garden of wild flowers * The_Seed looks harmless and innocent * Kinda-woman approaches the Doctor * Doc2 looks up to see the Kinda woman * Peri_Brown moves over to the reddest flower and carefully examines the pistil * The_Seed quivers So, Idiot! You have returned to Deva Loka. * Doc2 looks at her * The_Seed rolls over to Peri un-noticed I'm terribly sorry, but I don't believe we've met... * Peri_Brown backs up and steps on the seed So you return before you came in the first place. What? What was that? I've only been to Deva Loka once, and that was...well, let's just say it's been a long time. * The_Seed looks innocent and harmless again * Peri_Brown looks down at the large seed * Peri_Brown could swear it wasn't there before * The_Seed does its best to look friendly * Peri_Brown shrugs and watches the Doctor talking to a lady Let me introduce you to my companion, Pe - Peri? * Doc2 looks around Peri, there you are! Deva Loka is not the paradise you think. * The_Seed wonders how long it would take to infect this hoooooman... * Peri_Brown moves over, laughing Idiot? He must not meddle in the affairs of the Kinda. * The_Seed waits for its moment to strike Okay - I'll try to keep him out of trouble. * Peri_Brown whispers to the Doctor Who are the Kinda? * The_Seed hides behind a tree and waits for one of the hoooooooman creatures to be alone. * Kinda-woman turns and walks back into the jungle * Doc2 leans over to Peri and whispers They're the indigenous people of this planet. Very kind and peace-loving. They should be quite willing to help you with any botanical studies. Sounds great. Come along. * Doc2 follows the woman * Peri_Brown follows the Doctor, ever distracted by the flora * The_Seed follows the pair, keeping a safe distance behind There you are, Peri - look. * Peri_Brown looks * Doc2 points out a dull-looking plant * The_Seed watches the two travellers and prepares its plan * The_Seed burrows under the soil Doesn't look very interesting to me. * Kinda-woman stops and comes back to see what the idiot and his keeper are looking at * The_Seed begins to hatch The Kinda use that to make delicious tea. I remember when I was here before, I must have drunk gallons of it. Hmmm - but it does look similar to poison sumac. * Doc2 looks closer Oh, so it does. * Peri_Brown smiles Maybe it was another plant I'm thinking of... * Doc2 walks off, deep in thought * The_Stalk of a plant breaks through the surface of the soil. It is still quite small. Ever get a scratchy throat after a cup of that tea? * Kinda-woman notices the stalk growing where there was nothing before * Peri_Brown follows ::menacingly:: So it begins. * The_Stalk becomes thicker * Doc2 has lost sight of the Kinda woman Oh dear, now where did she go? So, where are these Kinda at? I have loads of questions. * The_Plant has grown to be about 10 feet high and stops. Tired by the sudden growth, it requires rest before it can progress to the next level of development. * Peri_Brown wishes she'd brought some sample bags along ::pouting:: Well...they wander through the jungles of Deva Loka, you see, so they can be very difficult to locate...! * The_Plant sleeps * Kinda-woman watches the plant grow * Kinda-woman doesn't like what she sees * Doc2 picks a direction and starts walking * Peri_Brown sees movement ahead of them Look, Doctor! I think I see someone. * Doc2 stops and turns I think I see someone Oh, good. Maybe it's one of the Kinda tribes. Let's have a look. * Peri_Brown sees a happy smiling man with long hair and a skirt Hi! * Doc2 spies the figure Peri saw * The_Plant lets out an enormous roar, but stays still, virtually invisible in the thick jungle growth * Peri_Brown waves to the Kinda person Er, Peri, I'm afraid he won't speak to you. Why not? Kinda males don't possess the capability of speech. Really? Yes...but he'll understand you perfectly well. * Peri_Brown smiles at the thought Wish men on Earth were like that. * Kinda-man smiles at Peri Well, it's nice to meet you. * Peri_Brown holds out her hand to shake his * Doc2 notices the Kinda man seems confused, and demonstrates shaking hands with Peri There, you see? * Kinda-man shakes hands with Peri, grinning all the time, and looking at her clothing Ah. I think he believes you're a bit, er - overdressed. Kinda women aren't in the habit of wearing three-piece suits. Well, you did just get me out of a meeting... I know, I know. I'm awfully sorry about that. But I thought it'd be fun! And I'm glad you did. * Doc2 does a little jig So, where are the rest of your people? * Kinda-man tosses his long, silky hair * Kinda-man picks a fruit and offers it to Peri * Peri_Brown looks at the fruit suspiciously Go ahead, it's quite safe. I think. * The_Plant shakes suddenly and doubles in size It looks a bit like a mango. * Kinda-man looks up over the trees and sees the top of the plant. He points and looks afraid It smells more like a, hmmm, well, a waffle. I wonder what he's pointing at? * The_Plant becomes motionless * Doc2 looks but sees nothing unusual * The_Plant whistles innocently * Peri_Brown looks too That's odd. Doctor - that plant, it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the flora here. Hmm, is that so? * Doc2 looks back at the Kinda man What is it? Can you show us? * Kinda-man leads Peri and the Doctor back toward the plant Doctor - wait! I have a funny feeling about it. * Doc2 stops from where he was bending to examine the plant's roots * Kinda-man points and looks afraid again * The_Plant thinks to itself, "Guess who's coming to dinner." * The_Plant looks at the three choices...the short man, the tall man and the woman This is a deciduous forest, that's a tropical plant. And it wasn't here 15 minutes ago, was it? Oh yes, how very observant of you. * Doc2 pauses, pulls out his recorder and tootles a few notes Hmm... * Kinda-man backs away from the plant, which he doesn't like at all * The_Plant makes his decision...The short man will not have enough fat to eat. The woman [besides being under contract] will not have the needed muscles. The tall native man will be perfect... Well - there's the Kinda woman where we left her. Let's take a sample of this back to the TARDIS. We can analyze it there. Besides, I don't think I can find that Kinda woman... * The_Plant prepares to strike at the Kinda man * Kinda-man falls to his knees, quaking in fear * Doc2 is surprised by this Here, let's get him away from here. * Doc2 takes hold of the man's right arm and tries to pull him up * Peri_Brown grabs the other hand and pulls too * The_Plant suddenly reaches out and plucks the Kinda man off of the ground * Peri_Brown lets go * Doc2 cries out in astonishment as the man is yanked from his hands No! * Kinda-man lets out a shriek! (Since Kinda men can let out death screams) Doctor! What is that! * The_Plant swallows the Kinda-man and makes a huge noise! ::whining:: I don't know! ROAR! * Peri_Brown turns away from the plant BELCH! Doctor, that was horrible! * The_Plant turns his attention to the remaining humans... Always the same. The idiot appears and brings the end of all with him * Kinda-woman looks resigned to the end of all * The_Plant reaches towards Peri... * Peri_Brown looks at the Kinda woman Come on, Peri, run! * The_Plant grabs Peri's ankle * The_Plant begins to pull Peri slowly towards his mouth * Doc2 yanks the plant's tendril off Peri's ankle * Peri_Brown squeals and runs away * Doc2 runs * Kinda-woman looks up at the Plant What about the woman? We'll have to find her. * The_Plant fears the Kinda woman and does not eat her The end comes again. Does it matter whether it comes by the Mara or by another kind of destruction? Oh! * Doc2 had not seen the Kinda woman She'll be defenseless against it! Let's go back. * The_Plant considers eating the Kinda woman anyway The face of destruction always returns. Civilizations rise, civilizations fall. It is endless. * The_Plant however, is still immobile and must wait for the food to come to it. Yes, you're absolutely right, Peri. * Kinda-woman fixes the plant with a stern stare that wipes all thoughts of eating from its mind * Doc2 carefully goes back to the plant * Peri_Brown turns back and follows the Doctor * Doc2 clears his throat to get the woman's attention Idiot! Do you come back to face the agent of destruction? * Peri_Brown can't help but giggle again Come away from the plant! * Doc2 gesticulates wildly Come away? To what purpose, Idiot? To not get eaten? ::whispering:: The plant! It's dangerous! Woman, tell your idiot that fate cannot be avoided! Um, Doctor, she's told me to tell you that fate cannot be avoided. * The_Krynoid ignores the Kinda-woman and looks towards the Doctor and Peri. They are still out of reach of its tentacles, however, and it must wait for them to draw nearer. Yes, that may be, but I don't intend for her to meet her fate just yet. So, what shall we do? She seems quite set in her ideas. * Kinda-woman walks slowly away from the Krynoid. * Doc2 releases a held breath So, we follow her! Okay - as long as we get away from that plant. * The_Krynoid draws strength from the dinner of the Kinda man and begins to grow more * Doc2 sidles around the plant, after the Kinda woman, who is going in the general direction of the TARDIS * Kinda-woman walks off toward the Kinda village * Peri_Brown follows the Doctor and the woman * Kinda-woman arrives at the Kinda village * Doc2 walks into the village behind her How quaint! This place is beautiful! * The_Krynoid concentrates on being able to walk, but it is a slow process... My people! Gather round! We again face destruction and must prepare ourselves * Peri_Brown thinks it looks a little like the Native American reconstruction villages she'd been to with her stepdad * Kinda-man2 gathers beside Kinda-woman * Doc2 gets quiet and listens to the Kinda woman's spiel * Peri_Brown sits down crosslegged to listen too To fight against the destruction is against our way, so we must be ready to greet our fate * Peri_Brown frowns Excuse me - would you mind if I said something? Idiot! What can you offer? I can offer you a solution to your problem! Well, almost...I mean, you'll have to work on it, but... * The_Krynoid meanwhile, shuffles closer to the Kinda village. It is a long way, and the progress is slow. * Kinda-Woman glares at the idiot! * Kinda-man2 walks over to where Peri's at and sits down beside her To act is against the way of the Kinda. But you don't have to exactly act...just alter your schedules a little... * Doc2 is trying to be delicate, for fear of offending the woman * Kinda-man2 starts playing around with Peri's hair * Kinda-man2 gives Peri a flower Woman, tell your idiot that to take arms against a threat is to give in to it! * Peri_Brown tugs on the Doctor's pants leg Um, Doctor, she says to take arms against a threat is to give in to it. There is such a thing as passive resistance, you know! *Shuffle* *Shuffle* *Shuffle* * Doc2 is generally making stuff up to try and wheedle the woman into doing something * Peri_Brown notices a man looking at her And how would you resist that which must be? * Kinda-woman grumbles under her breath about idiots * The_Krynoid is now large enough to be seen over the jungle and its progress can be seen from the village. * Kinda-man2 smiles at Peri * Peri_Brown turns away - men on any world are perverts It doesn't have to be unless you refuse to alter the course of time. Believe me, I should know. Woman, if you can't keep your idiot from babbling, remove him! * Peri_Brown hears several Kinda scream and watches many run away * Doc2 huffs Doctor - I think you should turn around Wha -? * Kinda-woman stands her ground, looking up at the Krynoid * Doc2 turns around * Peri_Brown sees the plant coming towards them Oh, my giddy aunt! * Doc2 gets fidgety Now look, you have got to do something to stop that plant or it could well consume your village! Looks like it already has! Where'd it get the matter to grow that big? And what would you suggest, Idiot? At least evacuate! * Kinda-man2 wanders into the Krynoid's path * Peri_Brown ponders whether the Kinda have invented MiracleGro yet Would you agree to move the village until I can do something about this plant? * The_Krynoid eats Kinda-man2 * Peri_Brown sees the pervert get eaten No! Not another one! ROAR! BELCH! Doctor, can't you stop it? We'll try, Peri. * Doc2 walks up to the Kinda woman * The_Krynoid grows even bigger Did you see that? The plant just ate one of your men! Do you know what it is? It is normal for this planet? Normal? There is no normal. There is only what is, and what isn't. It seems that what is, may include your idiot's schemes. Well, your village is going to be what isn't if you don't leave! My people have already taken flight after hearing your disturbing words. * The_Krynoid edges nearer So, idiot. How will you fight the plant that brings destruction? * Doc2 considers Well, I don't quite know yet. But I can try to develop an herbicide. * Peri_Brown begins to think about common herbicides on Earth Doctor - what about RoundUp? * The_Krynoid eats more passing Kinda people and grows larger RoundUp? What's that? I used to always see it advertised on the TV during the weather. It's great for killing weeds for farmers. * The_Krynoid will be ready to germinate soon. I wish I could remember the ingredients. Well, it's worth a try. Peri, if I give you the TARDIS key, do you think you can make it back and find some herbicides? * Peri_Brown did a study on herbicides and pesticides and their effect on the environment before Doctor - if I can't find one, I'll make one. Actually, I think I'll go with you. I'd like to take a sample of that plant. * Doc2 narrows his eyes and peers at the plant Doctor - that would be suicide! * Doc2 pats Peri's hand Not necessarily... * Kinda-woman walks up to the Krynoid in a very dignified manner, and hits it with her walking stick, causing a leaf to fall off Oh. Well, thank you, madam. * The_Krynoid peers down at the Kinda-woman. * Peri_Brown races off to the TARDIS * Kinda-woman glares back up at the Krynoid * Doc2 accepts the leaf that the woman gives to him, then follows Peri * Peri_Brown is glad she has on sensible shoes * The_Krynoid no longer fears the Kinda woman * Kinda-woman does not fear the Krynoid because what will be will be * Kinda-woman makes a dignified retreat * The_Krynoid reaches down and picks up the Kinda woman * The_Krynoid bellows, "Your choice has been made." * Kinda-woman accepts her fate * The_Krynoid swallows the Kinda woman * Peri_Brown is at the TARDIS and unlocks the door * Peri_Brown looks for the Doctor but can't see him yet * Peri_Brown goes to the TARDIS lab and looks around * Doc2 has gotten lost in the jungle Oh dear, oh dear... * Doc2 puts the leaf in his pocket for safekeeping * Peri_Brown looks for some toxins in the storage shelf but only finds nitro nine * Kinda-jester steps out of the jungle and does a cartwheel in front of the Doctor * The_Krynoid rampages and roars and makes a mess Oh, hello. * Doc2 chuckles as the jester makes silly faces * Peri_Brown pockets a couple of nitro nine canisters as a back-up * Kinda-jester shakes his little jester doll * Doc2 pretends to be frightened Oh my, what a scary dolly. * Kinda-jester mimics him That's quite good. * Doc2 claps * Peri_Brown wishes she were visiting her Uncle Jessup. He'd have some RoundUp for sure. You wouldn't happen to have seen a blue box around anywhere, would you? * The_Krynoid gobbles up a few more villagers for lunch * Kinda-jester points into the jungle in the direction of the TARDIS Oh, you have! ROAR! * Doc2 gives the jester a little bauble in appreciation BELCH! * Peri_Brown goes over and looks in the Merck Index to find out what some of the chemicals in the lab are * Doc2 heads off in the direction of the TARDIS * Kinda-jester is delighted Ah, here we are! * Doc2 pats the TARDIS lovingly * Doc2 tries to open the door but finds it is locked Oh, crumbs. * Doc2 pats his pockets, wondering if he's got a spare key * Peri_Brown has made a concoction with nitro, DDT, and syrup I really need to put a spare key on this TARDIS somewhere... * Peri_Brown is quite sure that the conction she has is environmentally safe, except for plants, of course Must remember that. * Peri_Brown goes out into the console room * Peri_Brown opens the doors to the TARDIS * Doc2 tries knocking Oh dear, I'm so sorry, Peri. * Doc2 tries to staunch the blood flow from Peri's nostrils * Peri_Brown puts a hanky to her face Doctor! Where have you been? * The_Krynoid sneaks up, as well as a 200 foot plant can sneak, behind the TARDIS. * Doc2 brandishes the leaf proudly * Doc2 frowns - the leaf has wilted and crumpled in his pocket * The_Krynoid roars! * Doc2 jumps * Kinda-jester has followed the Doctor to the TARDIS and is quaking with exaggerated fear Don't worry, old chap, it'll be quite all right. * Doc2 pats the jester on the back awkwardly Have you got the herbicide, Peri? Yes, Doctor. * Peri_Brown hands the Doctor what looks like a can of deodorant * Doc2 takes the can What an odd choice of containers. * Doc2 walks over to the Krynoid, on the other side of the TARDIS * The_Krynoid looms over the Doctor and Peri. Hello? Excuse me! Pardon me, but you wouldn't happen to be hungry, would you? * Peri_Brown moves back a bit * Doc2 waves cheerfully ROAR! HUNGRY! I'll take that as a yes. * The_Krynoid looms ROAR! * Peri_Brown wonders if the Doctor has written out his will yet * Doc2 tosses the can up at the Krynoid, then runs back to Peri and pushes her round the TARDIS I sincerely hope that works. So do I. A little small. But a meal's a meal. * The_Krynoid eats the can * The_Krynoid EXPLODES * Kinda-jester quakes * The_Krynoid is dead * Peri_Brown is being squished by a Time Lord * Doc2 peers round the TARDIS * Kinda-jester jumps up and does a jig Is it gone? Well, it's not gone, no. But it's in a lot of pieces. * The_Krynoid's remains ooze around I've just thought - this thing had better not be a starfish. * Doc2 walks over to the many bits of Krynoid and takes another leaf * Doc2 pulls a book out of his pocket and presses the leaf I'll study this later. Come on, Peri, let's see if the Kinda have returned to the village. * Peri_Brown is glad her idea worked * Doc2 marches toward the village then pauses, forgetting which way it is * Doc2 looks back at the jester * Peri_Brown thanks the mysterious scientist who always signed her notes "ACE" * Kinda-jester points to the village. He is a very good navigator. Pardon me, but would you mind...oh. Yes, thank you. * Doc2 congratulates Peri as they trudge toward the village That was an excellent concoction, my dear. Thanks, Doctor. So, how will the people do without the Woman? Oh, I should think they'll find another leader. There are plenty of Kinda women to go around. Most of them are wise beyond their years. * Doc2 tootles a happy tune on his recorder Like most women, eh Doctor? Well. Perhaps most Earth women. I could name quite a few immature Time Ladies. Here we are. * Peri_Brown smiles * Doc2 stands on the outskirts of the village and looks around * Doc2 calls out You can come out now - it's gone. * Peri_Brown watches amazed as people seem to appear out of the woods * Doc2 nods, satisfied The Kinda are very resilient.
