8 February 1997 - ep 1 1 March 1997 - ep 2 Doctor Who - Animal Magnetism starring the seventh Doctor, Harry Sullivan and Vislor Turlough DrGrace (judiang@idt.net) - Simmba Gummo (st5uf@bayou.uh.edu) - Doc7, smoke Haem (haem@lys.vnet.net) - LionWoman, Rowra, Laxafti, RoyalGuard Jondar (jondar@fl.net.au) - Harry_Sullivan, Torresh, eyepiece, TARDIS trinalin (trinalin@infinet.com) - Turlough, Avarrrr, Darga, Suddenly, Soon RafflesOG (raffles@linknet.net) - RafflesOG, Fapalah, guard45555 Wombo (wmc546@iadfw.net) - Rakeesha -------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Turlough sits in the TARDIS glaring at Harry * HarrySullivan gives a steely glance at Turlough... "I don't like him." Have we arrived yet, Doctor? * Doc7 looks up from the console In a moment, Turlough, in a moment. * HarrySullivan looks at the console... maybe if I touched *this* switch... * Turlough starts putting the chess game away * Doc7 whacks Harry's hand Don't touch that. And either way, we've landed. You very nearly deleted a portion of the ship, Mr. Sullivan. Did I? I thought I was operating the scanner, Turlough. * Turlough shakes his head thinking of the stupid human The scanner switch is that one there. Labeled "scanner." Oh... * HarrySullivan flicks the scanner switch * Doc7 sighs Would you two stop the petty bickering? * Doc7 touches a button for the scanner that neither Turlough or Harry looked at Wow - look at those buildings. * Turlough is impressed What buildings? I only see pyramids. Pyramids are buildings. * HarrySullivan thinks "We're in Egypt!" Yes, seems we're landed on Lahra, a quiet beautiful planet inhabited by a race of lion-like people. Lion people? Yes, lion people called the Lahrans. Are they friendly, Doctor? Yes Harry, they're rather friendly indeed. I was here a very long time ago and quite enjoyed myself. I've not heard of them before. Of course you've never heard of them, Turlough, since I've never mentioned being here before. * Turlough checks out the coordinates Ah, a few thousand light years from Trion space. It will be a while before we get here. * HarrySullivan stares at the scanner * LionWoman walks around outside, and can be seen from the scanner They don't look friendly... * Doc7 touches a button and opens up the door. He grabs his umbrella and heads out the door. Come along, you two. * HarrySullivan follows, thinking about lion men * Turlough gets his jacket and follows the Doctor Looks like a marketplace. * Turlough notices the people staring at them as they walk * HarrySullivan gazes at the stalls Yes, it's the main marketplace in the capital city. I don't think they've seen many humanoids, Doctor. Well, they don't get many visitors. * Turlough smells the spiced cooking * HarrySullivan doesn't like the natives staring at him * Rowra walks slowly through the crowd toward the strange-looking lions Doctor, there's someone heading towards us. * Doc7 walks straight toward Rowra and tips his hat Ah, good day. * Turlough moves over to a booth where a man is cooking Good day to you, as well, kind travellers. * HarrySullivan motions to Turlough to come over * Turlough walks over to the Doctor * Rowra sniffs at the Doctor and growls in a friendly manner * Doc7 sniffs and growls as well, just as friendly * HarrySullivan looks uncertain... should he sniff and growl? * Turlough has realized that the good smelling food is meat and frowns May I ask what brings you here to our city? I have not seen the like of you before. I've come to visit your lovely city. The Festival of Cowar is soon, if I remember correctly. * Rowra's voice is very gentle but has a hypnotic thrumming undertone I fear you have arrived too late. The Festival of Cowar was several fulltides ago. * HarrySullivan is distracted by Rowra's voice * Turlough is very curious about the city and moves over to a machine a few feet away There is, however, a comparable festival approaching. You may find it equally entertaining. Oh dear, Doctor, we've missed the festival you wanted... Primitive, but it works. Sounds splendid. * Rowra glances over at Turlough and leans closer to the Doctor Why is that one's fur such an odd color? * Rowra doesn't want to be offensive, but is terribly curious * Turlough walks back Oh, Turrrlough you mean. Yes. Turrrlough. * Rowra can roll her r's even better than the Doctor That's not furrr, but a coat made of a different material. * Turlough holds his sleeve out * Rowra doesn't care much about Turlough's sleeve; it's not that much nicer than the robe she wears * Rowra wants to know about Turlough's hair That is a trebuchet, is it not? You have similar devices in your city? * HarrySullivan notices Rowra's interest in Turlough Actually, not any more. But my ancestors made trebuchets and onagers to defend their cities from attackers You have abandoned warfare? That is a good thing. We are also hoping to follow that path. Yes, about 10,000 years ago we made peace with our enemies. Now we only have to worry about our friends * Turlough frowns So, tell me about this festival that's coming up. The upcoming festival is to celebrate the many lights in the heavens. Our people hold them in high esteem. Many lights? Sounds lovely. Ah, the stars! I don't blame you there. Your town sounds very similar to our own in some ways, Turrrlough. Are you all from the same town? * Turlough smiles Actually, no. No, we aren't. Not exactly, but there's plenty of time later to go into that. * Rowra agrees with the Doctor The Doctor here is from a much more ancient town than mine. Mr. Sullivan is from a very backward community. * HarrySullivan glares at Turlough I would be very pleased to take you to the royal court. * Turlough unconsciously takes a step away from Harry Ah, just where I wanted to go. Wonderful, we get to meet the emperor? The queen will be very interested to meet you, I feel sure. As I'm just as interested in meeting her. Oh... a queen? * Rowra leads the Doctor, Harry and Turlough away, under the watchful stares of the vendors and shoppers Yes, Harry. You see, their society is ruled by a matriarchy. Matria... what?? Ruled by women. Oh... Precisely. My own culture used to be like that. Now it's rather genderless. ***** * Simmba paces around the royal court * Simmba gazes at the queen resting in the shade * Rakeesha looks up at the approaching people * Simmba glances around at the strange creatures with short muzzles, little fur and no tails * Rowra approaches the queen and her consort, and crouches low Honored Mother, I present to you three travellers from faraway towns. I thought you would like to meet them. * Rowra waits for permission to stand Greetings, Rowra. Greetings to you as well, travellers. * Rakeesha grants Rowra permission * Rowra pulls herself upright * Simmba stares at the travellers * Doc7 tips his hat * Turlough admires the courtyard of the Queen * HarrySullivan looks at the throne room We do not get visitors very often. Might I inquire why you have chosen to visit us? They intended to arrive for the Festival of Cowar. I had planned on attending the Festival of Cowar but it appears I arrived a few cycles too late. * Simmba looks at each visitor closely Honored Mother, please excuse me. I must attend to my charts. You are excused, Rowra. * Simmba stares at the short traveller * Rowra crouches low and departs * Rowra is off to prepare for the festival * Rakeesha motions for the visitors to sit * HarrySullivan sits on a cushion * Turlough sits on the floor to the right of the Doctor Where have you travelled from? From many places, actually. * Simmba shakes his mane Yes, continue. * HarrySullivan looks at Simmba... something is wrong... I'm the Doctor and these are my companions, Turlough and Harry. We all come from different parts of the galaxy. * Turlough nudges the Doctor * Simmba glances at the queen in surprise * Doc7 looks at Turlough * HarrySullivan wonders why the Doctor said that *whispering* Are you sure you should mention the galaxy? * Simmba narrows his eyes at the Doctor Galaxy? Please excuse my friend - he likes to exaggerate. * Laxafti wanders in from a side door, intending to speak with her parents, and is surprised to see a foreign trio in the court * Laxafti hangs in the shadows * HarrySullivan notices Laxafti and smiles * Laxafti catches the eye of the dashing one and smiles back Come in, child, meet our new guests. * Rakeesha motions Laxafti in * Laxafti bows low and enters Hello, mother, father. * Simmba looks proudly at his daughter * Simmba looks over Laxafti's head at his wife with concern * Doc7 ignores Turlough and notices the latest arrival * Laxafti sits primly between her parents, looking at the dashing one every once in a while There are many town prides around... I have not heard of Galaxy. It's off past the mountains of Groool. How do you travel so far? Err... we travel... * HarrySullivan keeps quiet * Simmba listens impassively The Doctor is a great inventor. He has made a traveling machine that never tires. * HarrySullivan can't seem to keep his eyes off Laxafti * Simmba notices Laxafti's glances at the dumb looking creature and narrows eyes again Well, it doesn't tire like an animal. I see, you must be very wise, Doctor... Oh, yes! The Doctor is a first-class boffin! * Laxafti likes his enthusiasm * Simmba stares at Harry Boffin? * Doc7 just looks at Harry for a second and then turns back to the Queen. err... boffin... wiseman, genius... umm... That's enough, Harry. * Simmba dismisses Harry from his scrutiny and watches the Doctor * Turlough shakes his head again * Laxafti doesn't like the way the other two are treating...Harry. Tell me more about this upcoming festival of lights. Excuse me, your highness, may I be excused? For what reason? * HarrySullivan wonders why Turlough wants to be excused Well, Rowra mentioned charts, I wondered if she had an observatory. I am interested in the stars as well. The observatory, yes. I'll call an escort for you. * Rakeesha waves for a guide * Simmba claps for a guard to escort Turlough Thank you, highness. * RoyalGuard approaches Turlough and escorts him out of the royal court * Turlough follows the guard * Turlough is glad to be away from the flirting pair * Simmba sits, not pleased with these travellers * Avarrrr, the Captain of the Guards, comes over to Simmba * Simmba looks at Avarrrrr Lord Simmba, I do not like these travellers. Yes? * Simmba frowns * HarrySullivan stares at the newcomer... Avarrrr Why do you say this? They do not smell truthful, but more like they are full of lies. * Simmba nods * Simmba dismisses Avarrrr with a nod * Avarrrr walks out of the courtyard * Simmba glances at his queen * Rakeesha looks at Simmba Perhaps these travellers need some rest? Since they have come from beyond Groool. * Doc7 claps his hands together and rubs them Actually I'd love a tour of the palace, but I'm sure Harry here could use some rest. Yes, that would be wise. * HarrySullivan *is* tired Perhaps you may have a tour later... Doctor. * Simmba reveals a row of sharp white teeth * Doc7 smiles Fair enough. * Rakeesha motions to a guard * Laxafti stands I will take them, father. * HarrySullivan gets up * Laxafti glances furtively at Harry * Rakeesha glances at Laxafti * HarrySullivan glances back at Laxafti * Simmba speaks sharply to Laxafti No, I think it time for your lessons. But, father... No, enough. The guards will attend to the visitors. * Laxafti knows better than to talk back to her father, so with a plaintive look at the queen, Laxafti leaves * HarrySullivan is downhearted that Laxafti won't be escorting him * Simmba looks at Harry with displeasure You will be taken to your den. * Simmba motions to the guard Escort these two to a place of rest. * RoyalGuard takes the Doctor and Harry out ***** * Turlough is outside the observatory * Turlough knocks on the observatory door * Avarrrr watches the red-furred one enter the observatory * Rowra is busy recalibrating the telescope with Torresh's help * Torresh busies himself with equipment Hello again, Rowra. * Rowra turns Hello, Turrrlough. I am pleased to see you again. * Torresh turns and looks over the stranger I hope you don't mind my bothering you. This is my assistant, Gar Torresh. Hello, Gar Torresh. * Torresh nods and returns to his work * Torresh stuggles with the calculations I was tired of the soap opera unveiling downstairs. You said your pride was also interested in the stars. Would you care to assist us? I'll do what I can. * Turlough examines the telescope This is impressive. * Rowra leers and purrs happily It is the best in the country. Are you using mere lenses, or do you use mirrors instead? Mirrors, of course. We are not mere cubs. * Turlough smiles Of course. * Turlough looks at the calculations over all the walls * Rowra sees Turlough's gaze and smiles proudly That is Torresh's work. He does good work. He is the best mathematician we possess. Looks like you folks have an interloper in your midst. What do you mean, interloper? Torresh has been with us for many hightides. No - in your calculations you have an object that is increasing in brightness. Yes. It is a space jelly. Space jelly? As they move across the heavens, they get brighter. Then they leave. Ah, a comet. * Turlough looks at the most recent calculations I do not know what this comet is, but I know space jellies. * Torresh allows Turlough to look But surely those trajectories indicate it is heading here and not toward the sun. They flare brightly before they leave, and suddenly, they are gone. This one will do the same. Not with that mass. * Torresh rechecks the calculations Rowra... the stranger is right. The mass is too large to burn up. * Rowra is surprised You think this space jelly will not disappear? What was this object's position last night? * Rowra consults the charts It was at the juxtaposition of Ruforrr. No, Rowra... it will not disappear. According to my calculations, it will crash into the ground in one hightide's time. Why did you not tell me of this before, Torresh?! I did not know, Rowra... the calculations were incorrect. Rowra - I have a feeling that, with the mass this size, without my own checking, of course, this space jelly will obliterate your city. We have never seen a space jelly before. Perhaps they are soft, as are real jellies, and will do no damage. I have seen them in my city. They are hard - like rock. At the mass it is, Rowra... it will do much damage even if it *is* soft. This one is the size of three of your pyramids. * Rowra is in a dither Have you folks considered moving? We cannot leave here, stranger. Then you will die. ***** * HarrySullivan is relaxing in the room assigned to him by the guard * Laxafti slips out of her den and wanders down the halls, looking for Harry's quarters * Laxafti is hoping her father does not come to check that she is finishing her lessons * HarrySullivan tries his door... locked. * HarrySullivan thinks... a locked door... why would they lock me in? * Laxafti comes to the guest area and sees guards outside two doors Guards! I hear rumors of an uprising in the rear of the palace. Go, quickly, and make sure no-one is hurt! * HarrySullivan hears voices outside the door * Darga looks up Right away, majesty. Hurry! My mother is not paying you to dawdle! Wait - who will look after the prisoner? I will summon my personal guard. Of course. * Laxafti worries over the terminology * Laxafti wonders who told Darga that Harry was a prisoner * HarrySullivan thinks he hears the princess on the other side of the door * Darga rushes off with his partner * Laxafti unlocks the first door and finds the Doctor Oh, hello. * Laxafti closes the door again, but leaves it unlocked * Laxafti opens the other door and smiles shyly as she sees Harry * HarrySullivan is surprised Princess... what are you doing here?? I came to make sure you were all right. Did they mistreat you? * Laxafti has been worrying about this Not much. They threw the Doctor and myself in these "dens." These dens are quite luxurious. * Laxafti admires the furnishings They may be, princess... but they locked us in here! Yes, I noticed that. Come, I will take you to a different part of the palace. * HarrySullivan gets up and follows, intrigued. This way. * Avarrrr sees Harry and Laxafti * Laxafti leads Harry down a corridor * HarrySullivan follows STOP! I will...eek! * Laxafti stops Oh dear... * HarrySullivan stops * Laxafti thinks about running away You two - where are you going? Back! * Laxafti turns and runs the other direction * HarrySullivan races after her * Avarrrr runs after the princess * Avarrrr grabs Harry by his jacket collar Ouch! * Laxafti stops, hearing Harry cry out Stop, hairless one. Who are you calling "hairless"? * Laxafti turns Let him go! He has done nothing! I am taking you to the queen. * Laxafti steps forward It is I who disobeyed my father. You would not have disobeyed him if not for this weakling. * Laxafti pauses - that's true, actually * HarrySullivan is indignant... weakling!! But he did not force me to do anything. * Avarrrr despises Harry because he is supposed to marry Laxafti eventually Never mind, I will let the queen decide. * Laxafti despises Avarrr because he is too...gruff. * Avarrrr drags Harry by the scruff of his jacket * Laxafti follows along behind, angrily * HarrySullivan protests, but follows * HarrySullivan is steadily getting frustrated * Avarrrr arrives at the courtyard * Avarrrr throws Harry to the floor Ouch! * Simmba looks up What is this? That hurt! * Laxafti stands over Harry's body, whiskers quivering * Rakeesha stares at the trio What's going on, Avarrrr? Father, why did you lock them in their dens?! And why did you tell the guards they were to be kept prisoner?! This creature was making his way out of the castle with your daughter, Highness. I was not! I only wanted to talk to him! I knew he could not be trusted. * Rakeesha stares angrily at Harry and Laxafti * Laxafti stares defiantly back * Simmba growls softly * HarrySullivan stares at Avarrrr * Simmba stands, mane bristly with rage Is this true, Laxafti...? Is *what* true? You have disobeyed me! * Laxafti looks down Yes, Father. But Harry did nothing. * HarrySullivan thinks... where's the Doctor when you need him? That's right! I did nothing. * Avarrrr takes out his whip * HarrySullivan shudders at the sight of the whip You will talk with respect! * Avarrrr smacks the floor near Harry's head No, Avarrr! * Laxafti dives to protect Harry What were you doing out of your den, Laxafti? Answer your mother. Were you sneaking off with this...this... hairless one? Your majesty... she came to my den and wanted to talk to me... I was, mother. But it was my idea, not his! * Simmba growls I only wanted to talk! Why, Laxafti... He is unlike anyone I have ever seen. * Laxafti looks at Harry in admiration * HarrySullivan is flattered * Doc7 strolls back into the throne room and notices the fight * Simmba glares at Harry * HarrySullivan looks at the Doctor, relieved Laxafti, I am disappointed in you. And with this... I am disappointed in you, father! * Laxafti then gasps and realizes she shouldn't have said that * Simmba roars * Rakeesha stares at Laxafti What!!! * HarrySullivan shudders My daughter speaks to me like this! * Doc7 sighs What have you done now, Harry? Doctor... I did nothing... the princess come to my den! * Rowra dashes into the court * Doc7 looks at his watch and mutters "Right on schedule." Honored Mother, Gentle Father, forgive me, but I have terrible news! What news, Rowra? * HarrySullivan looks at Rowra, thankful for the brief reprieve There is a large space jelly heading for Lahra. * Turlough follows in behind * Simmba looks at Rowra Torresh tells me that it will not disappear like the others. What? Space jelly??? What is this? It may kill us all! Unless you leave. Rowra, are you sure about this? I am, Honored Mother. How, if I may inquire...? Turrrlough assisted Torresh in his calculations. * Doc7 looks at Turlough * HarrySullivan stands forgotten * Simmba has not forgotten Harry * Laxafti sits beside Harry, in shock * Rakeesha looks at the three pinkskins * Turlough looks at his nails If I may speak, Highness? Speak. This object is very massive. About the size of three of your pyramids, give or take a few thousand kilos. And it is heading this way. Why will it not dissapear, as the others did? It is too massive - it will not burn up in the atmosphere. Turrrlough says it is a space jelly unlike the other space jellies. So what can be done? In my own city, we have seen a few "space jellies" that survive the crash. * Doc7 says quietly "Turlough..." They are small rocks. This is several orders of magnitude larger. Hmm, when will this space jelly arrive? * Turlough looks at the Doctor Within the month. But the space jellies have never landed on the planet before! * HarrySullivan is confused... "space jellies?" * Turlough mouths "meteorites" * HarrySullivan realizes... Oh... * Simmba listens to all this talk and narrows his eyes But how can you know all this? * Simmba twitches his whiskers suspiciously I know this because in my city I am the assistant for the astronomer. Rowra has seen the data herself. I have seen the data, and I can confirm that what he says is true. * Rakeesha whispers to Simmba: Do you believe him? * Simmba whispers back: I truly cannot say. But extraordinary things happen with their arrival. First Laxafti and now space jelly. I do not trust them. * Doc7 walks towards Turlough Am I to understand that you actually told them about the "space jelly"? * Turlough turns to the Doctor Of course. You think I'd keep it a secret? * Doc7 just stares at Turlough ********** It is from this point that the RPG began to take ********** a _very_ humorous tone. I am keeping the other ********** comments in to show how much fun we had! {space Jelly?-where's Cosby?} [Space Jelly pudding pops for all! :)] [smacks the audience...sshhhhhh, quiet in the peanut gallery] * Turlough turns away from the Doctor, feeling his eyes on his back * Rakeesha whispers to Simmba: I don not like this Turlough, but should we disbelieve Rowra? [don not...whoops :)] [Not like Turlough? How can anyone not like Turlough? :)] [mmmmmmm, donnots....:)] [I could use a donnot right now] * Simmba whispers back: Rowra has never given us cause for distrust before. * Rakeesha whispers back again: Perhaps we should discuss this matter with her in detail. * Simmba straightens up and stares at Rowra fiercely Rowra, and what can be done about this...space jelly? {Space Jelly filled donnots!} Er...I am not sure, Gentle Father. I have not discussed the matter with Turrrlough. [grabs a donnot, turns her back to the audience and stuffs it into her mouth] {opens a can of Friskies for Simmba} [draaaaaaake :)] {aren't you glad i came back? ;)} * Rowra looks at Turrrlough What do you suggest we do? * Doc7 continues to stare at Turlough * Turlough ignores the Doctor Well, if moving is not an option, we need to find a way to deflect the flight of the space jelly. However, I do think that moving is your best option. * IsraelBeta [looks at Simba and whispers....Tuna...:)] [fwaps Issy] [wonders about this heckling audience :)] * Simmba frowns At least evacuate the majority of your population. They could safely get away within the month. Evacuate? Leave our pride? But where will we go? We can hardly leave Lahra! * Laxatfi looks at Harry Can you help us? I don't know, princess... ask the Doctor. Moving is not an option. Our people will never leave their lands. Then our only option is to deflect the jelly or die. Deflect the jelly? [thinks she is starting to look more like a Laxative] * Laxafti [is a great mover...] [Yup, Rakeesha and her lovely daughters Laxatif and Exlax] [is obsessed at the moment with diets, food, and her GI system...sorry :)] No, no, no, no, no. * HarrySullivan asks the Doctor: Couldn't you do something? * Laxafti looks at the Doctor with big, pleading, brown eyes Patience, Harry. [How does one roll in one's chair?] [tr: side to side, front to back... :> over... ;>] * TheDrake [thinks this is Carry On #drwhorpg :)] * Laxafti [thinks we should name the star jelly the Lexaax or something ;>] [regrets mentioning laxatives....siiiigh :)] Rowra, when according to your calculations will this thing land? In one hightide's time. [This could put a serious damper on the festivities :)] Doesn't give you much time then to do much of anything. * Simmba looks at the Doctor, who is clearly the leader of the pack [brum brum brum] [That's when I fell for... the leader of the pack :-)] [You too, Harry? You always seemed so straight to me.] [it's the Ex-lax making him say that.] [LOL! there went another glass!!!!] [/dcc Rakeesha more Coke] [/dcc Rakeesha new mouse pad :)] Doctor, how do YOU propose we ...deflect...this jelly? [I feel like a groundling at the Globe Theater.:)] I don't propose anything. As I said to Harry, patience is required in this matter. You would let us die?! Patience? Exlain yourself. *mutters to self* Meanwhile, the Doctor and his companions escape in the TARDIS. * HarrySullivan wonders what Turlough was muttering * Simmba whispers to Rakeesha: Leave our home... I do not like this. * Rakeesha whispers back: Perhaps we can persuade the Doctor to help us. His friends say he is an inventor. * Simmba whispers: Avarrrr says he smells untruth on them. * Rakeesha whispers back: Somehow I think I trust Avarrrr more than the pink ones. * Doc7 ignores all the questions and mutters to himself One hightide's time. Barely give me enough time to get there. * Doc7 turns around and starts to leave the throne room * Rakeesha motions the guards to stop him * Avarrrr stops the Doctor [laxatives and leaving the "Throne" room :)] * HarrySullivan [fwaps Drake] [grrrooooooan] [Drake: You are just so *bad*.:)] * HarrySullivan notices the Doctor leaving * Simmba motions Avarrrr to confer with he and the queen * Doc7 notices the guards and starts to run * Avarrrr sends the guards after the Doctor * Simmba nods at Rakeesha Father, what are you doing! * Avarrrr joins the royal couple He is our only hope to live! Quiet, Laxafti! He is the one who brought this upon us! And he is trying to escape, daughter. He did not bring this upon us! I trust him! We did not bring it upon you! We are innocent travellers! I did no such thing and I'm not escaping. You tried to leave without permission. That is considered very, very rude... There was no space jelly in the sky until he and the others arrived. Avarrrr, you accuse Rowra of untruth? Of course not. But she did not see this jelly until the strangers arrived. I believe that they are the cause of it. No time to explain right now. That is true...other jellies have come, why should this be different? * Simmba looks at Rowra I did not see the space jelly because of an error in Torresh's calculations. It was not the fault of the travellers. * Torresh enters Here, Torresh, tell them. That is right, your majesties. * Turlough is at the back of the room watching the fracas * Simmba furrows his brow in concentration and glances at the queen Turrrlough and I found an error in the calculations... the space jelly, which I have named "Exlax," will crash onto the planet in one high-tides' time. * Rakeesha closes her eyes and sighs * Doc7 slowly attempts to make another attempt for the door * Rakeesha addresses the Doctor Doctor, what are you trying to do? * Doc7 turns back to Rakeesha Trying to save your planet. And if you want to live I suggest you stop asking me questions and let me leave. * Avarrrr moves over to the Doctor You are a sorceror, are you not? You have caused this THING to arrive? * Laxafti gasps and points to a door on the other side of the throne room Over there! I ask you, majesties... no, I beeseech you... the strangers are innocent! * Laxafti screams I trust not in calculations. * Laxafti hopes the guards look They are but squiggles on paper made to make working men look foolish. * Rakeesha motions for silence Laxafti? er...I thought I saw...a space jelly. In the door. * Simmba turns to Laxafti Over there. * Laxafti points again * Rakeesha stares at Laxafti The scrawny one has affected your brain. * Laxafti pouts * Laxafti is annoyed that her distraction didn't work * Laxafti mutters And he is not *scrawny*... * HarrySullivan resents being called "scrawny" Laxafti, I will deal with you later. * Avarrrr grabs the Doctor by the collar Should we lock these creatures up? Unhand me! I will not. Do you want to die then?! Let the Doctor go! * Simmba glances at Rakeesha Yes, except for the Doctor...I think we should talk with him. * Doc7 sighs There's no time for talking. * Rowra looks at Turrrlough with concern * Laxafti looks at Harry with concern * HarrySullivan gives the princess a reassuring smile * Simmba motions for the prisoners to be taken away No! Escort the princess to her den. And see that she stays there. * HarrySullivan feels himself being manhandled out of the throne room * Laxafti is very upset * Laxafti allows herself to be dragged off Majesties - I think that I may be able to help you. * Turlough stares at the Doctor * Simmba turns to see Turlough still there Leave Turlough as well. After all, he discovered this jelly... * Simmba nods, relenting With great respect, Honored Mother, you would be wise to listen to what Turrrlough has to say. Yes, your majesties... he did discover the Exlax. [And I was up all night because of it :-)] I will, Rowra. Now, for the last time, what is it you plan to do? Well... [BTW is very glad rpg is so regular every week :)] [oh heck, no more drinks in the computer room :)] * Turlough looks to the Doctor for approval * Doc7 doesn't give it {so space jelly is now exlax?} [well i bowel to the genius here} [fwaps Drake] [and I'm flushed with envy] [A giant exlax meteor...this would've made a great episode :)] * Turlough frowns Please, if you are correct, the lives of many are my responsibility...I must know what you intend. There's no time for explanations. It would take too long. The equipment that we need is in the possession of the Doctor. Doctor? * Doc7 looks at Turlough What? It's in his machine that I was telling you about. I think we can make a device that can deflect the path of the jelly. Machine? What manner of machine? Turlough! I could assist Turrrlough in its construction. Is this one of your inventions, Doctor? Turlough, don't. Why not, Doctor? Do you wish for these people to die? No, but you can't attempt to deflect it. Why not? I know I've not seen it myself, but surely the mass isn't too great for an anti-grav beam. * Doc7 mutters: I miscalculated, not enough time. Must get to the pyramids. [Oh dear... Doc7 is stuck in an Orman novel!!! :-)] [Yeah - where the heck were the pyramids in Room with No Doors?] [Hey, I'm not the one who initially spotted the pyramids. ;)] * Rowra [brings out the devices of torture as the queen gets out the chocolate sauce] [mmmm chocolate...] {wonders who has a nice set of pyramids here?} * Simmba stares at the Doctor You have the means to help us but refuse? I don't refuse. * Turlough looks at the Doctor, trying to puzzle what he has up his sleeve It's not that. But you can't deflect it like that. * Rakeesha looks at Simmba Do we trust them? * Simmba looks at Rakeesha I am at a loss, my wife. * Rakeesha looks back I see no other choice. I do trust Rowra, and she trusts the stranger. * Simmba nods to the queen * Turlough wonders why a simple asteroid would not be deflected by an anti-grav beam Rowra - can I observe the space jelly now? It is night time. If the queen will allow us...? Yes, go...but keep an eye on them. Thank you. I'll escort you back to the observatory, Turrrlough. * Torresh escorts Turlough out of the throne room * Rowra bows low and follows * Turlough follows Rowra back to the observatory * Simmba thinks the Doctor is hiding much * Doc7 looks at the sky and then mumbles some more before running out of the room ***** Okay - where is it in the sky? * Turlough looks into the sky The telescope is aimed at it, Turrrlough. Oh my! * Rowra takes a peek The star jelly is larger than it last was. * Turlough doesn't need the telescope * Torresh busies himself with more calculations It shouldn't be this close, should it? * Rowra looks up at the sky, unaided, and gasps * Turlough looks though the telescope * Torresh looks up and gasps Um, Rowra, we have a problem. * Torresh hurriedly checks the calculations again {space Jelly going to cream the planet?} Oh dear... The mass of that object is at least 1000 times larger than I thought. Its size is small, however. What does that mean? And its speed is 50 times greater. * Rowra is very very scared It must be dark matter, or something like it. It's closer than we thought. [no it is strange matter Turlough] It is not a space jelly? [It's...Loyhargil! ;>] [as the giant canister of bug spray tumbles end-over-end towards Lahra...] It is a space jelly, it's just a very very dense space jelly. [prefers medium gray matter, herself] So it is very small and extremely massive. I understand. That messed up your calculations. Right. [condensed space jelly] {could you please pass the Space Jelly} Then it was not Torresh's fault. * Torresh quickly works on amending his calculations again But, I'd say that this will land in less than two days, and cause enough of an impact to move the planet. * Rowra jerks her head to look at him Move the planet! Oh dear... Yes, knock it out of its orbit, even. In fact, Turrrlough... we have less than two sunsets before it crashes into the planet. And the first sunset has just passed! The Doctor was right when he said that an antigrav unit wouldn't shift it. antigrav...? * Rowra is finding herself WAY out of her league Right now, I am at a loss as to what could shift it... {Exlax will shift it} * Turlough [fwaps Drake :)] [this is one huge exlax commercial, isnt it?] [is sooooo sorry she mentioned laxatives] What is "Antigrav"??? Anti-gravity. The gravitational attraction between the jelly and your planet is so great, they will pull each other closer and closer. Then there is nothing we can do to stop it. [maybe if we all bulk up on fiber it'll stop the Exlax] * Rowra [eats lots and lots of grass] You're planet has probably shifted somewhat already, but it may not be too late yet. [Exlax, If it's strong enought to save a planet, shouldn't it be strong enough for you? :D] However, as we probably won't be able to shift it, this is all moot. Then we *will* die. * Turlough sits down in a chair and rubs his hands through his hair [Now I lay me down to sleep, after a lot of roughage I did eat. I pray I die before I wake, cuz another washing these sheets can't take] [oh. How appropriate :D] ::ending credits for first episode...and the end of the silliness:: * Turlough gets up from the desk * Torresh still works on calculations Okay, ideas from either of you? I do not know - we have never faced anything like this before! I think the sooner we do something, the better chance of survival we have. Errr... I do not know if anything can stop it... By the time we think of something, it may be too late. Well, in my "village" if something like this was heading toward us, we would redirect it. With what, Turrrlough? Depending on the asteroid, lasers, anti-grav beams, spaceships with nets... * Turlough grins at his joke You have mentioned these anti-grav beams before, Turlough. Can you tell us how to make one? Better than that, I can make one for you. But it won't do you any good. * Rowra frowns Why not? I think for this threat a laser would blast the mass into pieces and change their momentum. A laser...? What is a laser? Then, if we had to, anti-grav beams to send the rest away. * Rowra is despairing But, Turlough, we know nothing about laser and anti-grav beams! A laser is coherent light, highly amplified. You will destroy the Exlax with light? They can be fine-tuned into a weapon with enough energy. * Rowra is fascinated by this A laser... We do have sound amplification devices, will they work to stop the asteroid? Hmmm - sound amplification? There's a thought. Where is this sound amplification equipment? It is in the pyramid. That is where we keep all of our valuable equipment. Good - lets make our way there. I want to see this equipment. All right. * Rowra and Torresh lead Turlough to the pyramid ***** Halt! You can't go there! You don't understand. I have to get in there. * Doc7 tries to walk past the guard * RafflesOG puts her hand out to stop him and grabs him by the collar I said you can't go in there! * Doc7 puts his index finger on the guard and watches as the guard collapses to the ground, unconscious Ug! * RafflesOG passes out! * Doc7 looks at his finger As a man I once met said, "One finger can be a deadly weapon." * Doc7 immediately heads into the pyramid * Doc7 once again turns towards the inner sanctum of the pyramid * Doc7 enters a room whose walls are covered with computer panels. In the middle is a single console * Doc7 mutters to himself Hmmm...it's moved off the course I plotted. Coming in too soon. ***** * Laxafti sits in her den, despondent, tired of practising her music and wanting to be with Harry * Harry_Sullivan sits on the bench in the cell... wanting to get out * Laxafti looks around her den, and her eyes land on a hunting stick that she used when only a cub to help her catch her prey * Laxafti glances at the door Fapalah? * Laxafti waits for her guard to come in Yes, princess? Fapalah, would you come here please? I'm having difficulty with my instrument... * Laxafti hides the hunting stick behind her back * Fapalah, like the small-brained lion that she is, comes in and reaches for the instrument * Laxafti brings the hunting stick up and then down onto the side of Fapalah's head I'm sorry... I've got this strange feeling of deja vu! * Laxafti watches as Fapalah drops to the ground, unconscious * Fapalah passes out! * Laxafti grips the stick tighter and climbs out of her den, pulling the curtain shut behind her * Laxafti now knows where Harry is held, and makes her way directly to the prison * Laxafti frowns - there is another guard outside Harry's cell * Laxafti thinks of something Guard! Come quickly! * Harry_Sullivan hears voices outside his cell It's Fapalah - she's collapsed in my quarters! My ornamental vase fell off my shelf and hit her on the head as she was helping me repair my instrument. I'm supposed to guard the prisoner! I will summon another guard. Please, Fapalah needs help quickly! OK! Be back soon! Thank you! * guard45555, being even denser than Fapalah, leaves his post! * Laxafti waits until the guard is out of sight, then hurries to unlock Harry's cell - again! * Laxafti calls in: Harry? Are you there? * Harry_Sullivan perks up at hearing Laxafti's voice Yes, princess, I'm here. Hurry! I don't know how long the guard will be gone. * Harry_Sullivan gets up! The door is locked, princess. Aah! I cannot believe this. * Laxafti takes a step back and kicks at the door * Harry_Sullivan gets out of the way as the door falls Ooh. All of my training seems to have come in handy. Come, the guards will have heard the door. * Harry_Sullivan leaves the cell * Laxafti takes Harry's hand Thanks for rescuing me. I must take you to the Doctor's room. Why? I have to find a way to persuade my parents that you are not the kind of creature they think. Oh. Let's go, then. * Harry_Sullivan follows Laxafti I hope there will be something in his quarters that will help them to see... Yes, I hope so too... Here. * Laxafti opens the door to the Doctor's quarters and goes in, quickly rifling through drawers What is this? * Harry_Sullivan enters the room * Laxafti holds up a bleeping, flashing metal device * Harry_Sullivan sees a piece of paper with "Harry" on it Princess, I don't know what that is... one of the Doctor's gadgets, I suppose. * Laxafti shrugs and puts it aside * Harry_Sullivan picks up the paper * Laxafti continues searching Princess! It's a note from the Doctor! * Laxafti turns Oh! What does it say? * Laxafti walks over and stands next to Harry I have to try and stop Turlough from getting to the pyramid. Where is the pyramid, princess? But, I - oh, very well. I shall go with you. Maybe THIS will persuade my parents that you are not a mischievous cub. This way. * Harry_Sullivan follows Laxafti * Harry_Sullivan and Laxafti hurry to the pyramid ***** How much further? It is just past this hill, Turrrlough. Yes, not far now. The pyramid is just up ahead... see it? Yes, I've been seeing it for some time. Just never seems to get any closer. The pyramid IS very large, Turrrlough. It's not that far now... What's that up ahead? Looks like a person on the ground. * Rowra looks more closely It is! That's Raffles, one of the pyramid guards! * Rowra makes greater speed to get to Raffles' side Well, let's see what happened to Raffles, shall we? * Turlough moves over to the guard I'm afraid I am not a medic - Turrrlough, can you help? I think he's coming around. * Turlough helps the guard up Who did this to you? Yes, who did it, Raffles? That little linx with the strrrrange clothes! That sounds like the stranger called the Doctor. The Doctor. Why would he knock you unconcious? * Rowra helps Raffles to stand I'll tear him apart when I see him! Raffles, I'd rather you didn't kill him. He's my way home. He wanted to get into the Pyramid! That is forbidden to strangers. And he is about as strange as you get! * Torresh hears strange noises coming from the pyramid What is that? * RafflesOG swears luridly and begins running It's the stranger! * Harry_Sullivan sees Turlough and runs to him Turlough! Don't go into the pyramid! * Laxafti is panting hard, tongue lolling, having run with Harry to the pyramid What? Why not? I don't know, Turlough. He left me a note, saying for you not to go in the pyramid. * RafflesOG stops and growls * RafflesOG rejoins the others Aren't we going to stop him? The Doctor said he's fixing the problem. What does he know about it, the outlander? Is he? Then what's he up to? And why won't he tell us? I have no idea... But we have to do something to stop the Exlax! Well, I don't care what he says. I'd rather we didn't just let these people die. * RafflesOG looks to his princess for guidance * Laxafti is too exhausted to give guidance - besides, she's feeling more than a little guilty Come on Rowra, we have work to do. Yes, you are right, Turrrlough. * Turlough continues toward the pyramid Turlough! Don't go near the pyramid! But we must help the Doctor save our planet! * Harry_Sullivan steps up to Turlough * Harry_Sullivan tries to forcibly stop Turlough What are you DOING?! * RafflesOG joins the departing group, glad to be DOING something at last! Harry - get out of my way. Harry! Turlough, the Doctor knows what he is doing... let him solve the problem! Look - the Doctor's leaving these people to die. Is that what you want? No! But the Doctor says he has a solution... I don't know what it is... but he has one! Grrrr! Raffles, do not interfere... * Laxafti has a feeling that Turlough and Harry have to work this out between themselves * RafflesOG steps back, and glowers There's equipment inside that pyramid that MAY just save these people. * Turlough sidesteps Harry and continues * Rowra begins to follow Turlough I think that is what the Doctor is doing... using the equipment. Using it, or tearing it down. * Harry_Sullivan follows Turlough and tries again to stop him * Harry_Sullivan grabs a hold of Turlough's school jacket Tearing it down?! * Turlough slips out of his jacket * Turlough pushes Harry away Harry! * Laxafti rushes to his side * Laxafti examines him for wounds, but sees that he is all right * Turlough is at the entrance Stop, Turlough... the Doctor knows... he IS helping them. Maybe the Doctor does know what he is doing? Yes, he does! I'm sure the Doctor does...he seems very wise. He's an outlander, your highness! How could he know? I am aware of that, Raffles. But he is still a wise one. I don't know, guard... he just left me this note... The name's Raffles, cub! * Laxafti looks at Raffles imperiously * RafflesOG bows her head and skulks back Well, if he is helping, he might need some help. * Harry_Sullivan goes up to Turlough again He doesn't WANT your help, Turlough... he has to do it alone!!! Which level has the sound equipment, Torresh? The topmost level, Turrrrlough. Let the Doctor do what he is doing... then see what happens! Sorry, your highness. I didn't realize he was yours! *He* is not mine. This one is. * Laxafti smiles and latches on to Harry That was who I meant! * Turlough heads up the stairs * Turlough hits his fist on the wall as he walks in Stop, Turlough!!! * Harry_Sullivan continues to follow Turlough, trying to stop him * Turlough turns around Shut up, HUMAN! * Laxafti pursues Harry * Harry_Sullivan doesn't like that remark * Harry_Sullivan catches up to Turlough * RafflesOG joins the trek upstairs, still rubbing her sore temples * Rowra walks behind Laxafti For the last time... let the Doctor do what he is doing!!! * Turlough ignores the human and follows Torresh and Rowra * Harry_Sullivan continues to follow Turlough Can you see him, Torresh? Turrrrlough... that level there is the sound equipment. * Torresh points to the level * Rowra peers over Torresh's shoulder * Rowra thinks Torresh is awfully tall! * Turlough arrives at the top There - see, he isn't here. Where could he have gone? * Turlough moves over to an instrument panel This is seismology equipment. Yes, that's right. * Harry_Sullivan calls Stop, Turlough! * Turlough glares at Harry * Rowra walks around the pyramid, pointing out instruments to Turlough Yes, it is seismology equipment. * Torresh goes to another panel... And here is the sound amplification panel. * Turlough sits down The Doctor said not to do anything. But where has the Doctor gone? This will do nothing for our cause. It's only for earthquake analysis. Why are you sitting down, Turlough? Are you not going to do anything? Where is the Doctor? Raffles said he was here. The sound amplifier is a wave amplifier and dampener for earthquakes. Can we not redirect it? Isn't that a trifle dangerous? I'm sorry, Rowra - your technology isn't advanced enough. It is not... why? Even Harry's people have more advanced technology then this. That's what the Doctor said in the note... he was trying to advance the equipment. Well, I do not see that he made any progress. Yes he did Rowra... look at this panel... * Rowra walks over to where Torresh is standing and inspects the panel * Torresh shows Rowra and Turlough * RafflesOG pricks up her ears Something has changed... I cannot tell, Torresh. It has been so long since I ventured inside the pyramid... There are several pieces of equipment that look different to the rest of the panels. * Rowra frowns Now that you mention it, yes, some of the equipment does seem different. * Torresh points to some different equipment Harry - Do you have a key to the TARDIS? Yes, I do, Turlough. Why? We need to get inside and get some equipment, and fast - this stuff won't do it. Where is the Doctor? He said in the note he was here. * Torresh studies the new equipment * Rowra prods a bit of it * Rowra purrs curiously * Laxafti wishes someone would DO something * Torresh touches the new equipment * Turlough looks at his watch Well, we may not have enough time. We may not have enough time?! What do you mean? * Doc7 runs into the room and immediately heads for the panel that everyone is looking at Doctor!!! Where did you come from?? * Rowra gasps as the Doctor's umbrella is shoved into her line of sight * Rowra jumps back * Torresh backs away from the "flying" Doctor The asteroid has gotten closer in our race here. With its gravitational force, the planet may already be out of orbit. Oh no! * Doc7 ignores all questions and starts working on the panel and then heads to another * Torresh stares at the Doctor in amazement Doctor, what are you doing? * Turlough gets up and looks over his shoulder * Rowra stills her beating heart Yes, what ARE you doing, Doctor? * Doc7 says to no one in particular "Too little time, not enough energy." Why not get a boost from the TARDIS? Wait - what do you need the energy for? Take too much time to set up. Have to do with the equipment here. Doesn't the TARDIS have unlimited energy? Harry, not really. But more than we'll ever use in a lifetime or 12. * Doc7 flips one switch and then runs back out of the room, heading deeper into the pyramid There is no energy equipment here... * Turlough follows the Doctor At least, none that I can see. But my parents might have something that would help. * Harry_Sullivan turns to the princess What? I'm not sure...but they have so MANY things...well, surely there's something there that could produce some energy. Doctor, tell me what you are doing. I can help. I am qualified. * Turlough bangs his fist against the wall again * Doc7 waves a hand at Turlough but doesn't turn back to look at him No, stay here and don't follow me. * Turlough kicks the wall Crazy outlander! * Doc7 runs into a room deeper within the pyramid, the room he first arrived at when he slipped past the guard * Turlough runs back up the stairs to the room * Doc7 looks at the console again and continues to mutter to himself Drat, still not strong enough. It will have to do though. If I reconfigure the booster it might work. Watch yourself, Turlough - the equipment is very delicate! * Turlough turns to Rowra I know that, okay? * Rowra goes over to examine the wall, tail twitching Well, you don't act like it. * Rowra is finding herself a bit irritated with Turlough's attitude Turlough... the Doctor isn't normally like this... all secretive... Why won't he tell us anything? * Turlough turns to Harry He isn't human. He doesn't have to act like what you'd expect. I would, however, like it if he acted like he cared about these people. * Turlough runs his fingers through his hair * Turlough snaps his fingers Rowra - what do your people use to run the electric lights? Electricity, of course. But Torresh is more the expert in those matters. There is a small river a short way from the village that we use to power our city. We have some generators in another section of the pyramid. They run on electricity from the river. Where's the dam? I just told you, Turrrrlough. The dam is not far... near this pyramid. Good - lets go there, and quickly. If it's power the Doctor needs, it's power he'll have. * Torresh beckons Turlough to follow him to the dam * Torresh rushes out * Rowra follows Torresh and Turrrlough * Turlough hurries after Torresh * RafflesOG follows everyone, still muttering about trusting outlanders * Laxafti looks after those who are leaving with worry in her eyes * RafflesOG pauses on the threshhold * Harry_Sullivan will stay in the pyramid and keep an eye on the Doctor Should I not go, your highness? No, Raffles, please do. Perhaps you can provide them with valuable assistance. * Laxafti has faith in Raffles' ability * RafflesOG hurries after everyone, happy to know her princess has such faith in her! * Torresh races to the dam... * Turlough is out of breath but keeps running after Torresh What are you trying to do, Turlough? * Rowra is very in shape and is not winded by the run We need... to get... the dam to release... more water. I hope you can accomplish that. The river is not very large. * Rowra doesn't really know much about hydroelectrics, however * Torresh thinks... we need to release the water from the dam... * RafflesOG keeps a good pace and soon catches up to the others Turrrlough, we need to open two main valves... I'll open one... can you open the other? I will! Yes, I can. Good, Raffles, come with me. What shall I do? Rowra, see if you can help me with the farthest valve. * Rowra nods and goes with Torresh * Torresh rushes to the farthest valve * Turlough heads for the south side of the dam * Rowra stands by Torresh and gets a good grip on the valve * RafflesOG follows Turlough * Torresh grips the valve and struggles to open it This valve is stuck! * Rowra pulls with all her might the valve is opening... just... It has to open! * Rowra strains harder * Turlough and Raffles are working on the south valve * Torresh pulls on the valve Can't you push any harder? I thought you guards were supposed to be trained? * Rowra feels the valve begin to give, ever so slightly * RafflesOG pushes harder and growls at Turlough's sarcasm * Rowra growls in exertion * Torresh sees the north valve open halfway We have to keep pulling... * Rowra pauses a moment, breathing heavily, then resumes tugging * Turlough pulls down with all his body weight * RafflesOG pushes harder! The handle slips forward. * Torresh pulls on the valve more I need a lever! * Rowra is panting rapidly now * Torresh sees the north valve open completely There! Done that valve! * Rowra is startled by the sudden release and, her momentum still carrying her backwards, flies back and slams into the wall * Suddenly both valves open to full force * Rowra cries out in pain My arm! * Torresh goes to help Rowra I think I have fractured it... * RafflesOG runs to Rowra's side * Turlough sees the lights overhead get brighter as the power increases Good! It seems to be working. ***** Harry, should we not find the Doctor? I must confess to being more than a little worried. Princess... have you seen the Doctor? Not recently, no. I saw him in that control room before... * Harry_Sullivan points to the inner room Oh dear - I don't know my way around the pyramid...I've only visited one time, when I was a cub. Seismology never held much of an interest for me. But I suppose he can't be far away. Seismology is too technical for me as well, princess. * Laxafti stands up and walks toward the inner room * Harry_Sullivan sees smoke rising from the inner room Perhaps the room is small... * Harry_Sullivan goes to the smoke * Laxafti smells it and starts coughing Is that you, Doctor? I say, are you all right? * smoke billows from the hallway leading to the inner room as an explosion is heard Oh! * Laxafti flings herself to the floor * Harry_Sullivan falls to the floor * Laxafti covers her head with her hands and waits out the shock wave * Doc7 flies back from the console, where the explosion originates from * Harry_Sullivan waits for the explosion and the smoke to pass Doctor, are you all right?!! * Laxafti looks up What was that noise? * Harry_Sullivan pulls himself up * Laxafti climbs to her feet Princess... that was an explosion... I have no idea what caused it... * Harry_Sullivan goes over to the Doctor to see if he is all right We must find out. Oh, I hope the equipment has not been destroyed! * Laxafti hurries to the console, waving her hand to ward off any wisps of smoke I hope so too... I have no idea what this does! * Harry_Sullivan sees the Doctor lying on the floor... apparently unconscious Well...it doesn't do ANYTHING any more, but... * Harry_Sullivan checks the Doctor's _hearts_ Well... he is alive, princess... his hearts are still beating. I am glad to hear it, Harry. ***** * Turlough looks up from his position on the dam to see a shimmering pulse leaving the pyramid and heading for space * Rowra, cradling her hurt arm, looks up in astonishment * Torresh stares at the shimmering pulse What is that, Turlough? * RafflesOG looks around I'm not entirely sure. * Torresh sees the shimmering pulse head towards the asteroid It is going to hit the space j - I mean, the Exlax! Let's hope this works! * Turlough smiles to himself Come on - let's find the Doctor. OK... We cannot watch? You won't be able to see anything without a telescope. I wish I were in the observatory... * Rowra winces as she moves her arm Rowra, will you be all right? Careful, Rowra! Yes, I shall be fine. But my arm does hurt... I should be in the observatory making calculations on this... Go ahead, Torresh. It should be interesting to see an asteroid crushed to little bits. * Rowra looks up happily I will go, too! Except, my arm... * Torresh leaves to go to the observatory Oh well, I will have the royal medic see to it. * Rowra walks carefully after Torresh * Turlough heads back to the pyramid Hmmm, looks as though we'll have company, Raffles - if I'm not mistaken, that's the royal couple. * Turlough sees Simmba and Rakeesha enter the pyramid before them * Simmba approaches looking very puzzled What is happening here? * Rakeesha scans for Laxafti * Harry_Sullivan turns at the sound of the voice * Doc7 sits up all of a sudden and looks around * Laxafti looks up from her examination of the console, startled Mother! Father! * Laxafti moves toward Harry, as if for protection Your majesty, apparently an explosion occurred... * Simmba frowns at Laxafti I... Laxafti! What...an explosion? But the Doctor and Turlough will be able to tell more. * Turlough enters the burnt out room Doctor! Are you okay? * Turlough rushes over to the Doctor * RafflesOG follows Turlough in and bows to her rulers * Doc7 looks at Turlough as he brings out his brush and uses it on his coat. Turlough, the Doctor is fine. What about the space jelly? * Laxafti puts forward helpfully: It was not a space jelly, mother. Well, I think your plan worked, Doctor, as long as the sonar pulse was able to change the momentum of the particles you made of that asteroid. What did you do, Turlough? I boosted the power. * Simmba watches the group calmly and awaits a coherent explanation And nearly killed me in the process! Yes, well, if you had TOLD me what you were up to... Yes, if you had told us what was going on... I didn't tell you for this very reason. Besides, you've been through worse than a room blowing to smithereens. What was it then? * Laxafti shrugs helplessly I'm not exactly sure, mother... And are we safe? * Laxafti looks to the Doctor, Turlough, and especially Harry for answers Princess... I don't know much about it, the Doctor and Turlough do. * Simmba states loudly: So I assume the threat has passed? * Turlough helps the Doctor stand Your majesty, we may be safe. Yes, you're safe. The meteorite has been destroyed and its smaller bits will burn up before they reach the ground. All we can do is wait to see if the Doctor's plan (which of course the Doctor refused to tell us about) worked. It worked. We'd be dead if it hadn't. * Laxafti sighs in relief Well, how do you know that the planet's orbit hasn't been changed too much? I will explain everything when we're back in the TARDIS, Turlough. That asteroid was made of dark matter - much more massive than your average asteroid. It's been pulling on this planet for months! And Laxafti, what is your role in this? * Laxafti straightens her back * Harry_Sullivan begins to speak * Rakeesha sighs, then narrows eyes at Laxafti I wanted you to know that Harry was not as...imbecilic as you seemed to think! So I set him free and brought him here to help the Doctor. * Simmba eyes Harry with some disdain Is that so? Yes, your majesty... the Doctor left me a note saying to try and help. * Simmba glances at Rakeesha * Laxafti sighs I'm sorry, mother, father. I was only trying to do what I thought was right. If what Laxafti says is true, we may have misjudged you, Harry. * Laxafti looks up, hopefully Think nothing of it, your majesty... * Simmba decides to stay mum But there is the matter of the guard, and the door...I assume you had something to do with it, Laxafti. Um... * Laxafti scuffs her feet Well... * Laxafti points to her hunting stick, which she left by the door * Rakeesha sighs * Harry_Sullivan steps in Yes, she did, your majesty. She only used force to try and free me. * Simmba makes a rumbling noise at Laxafti I am sure that this was her only intention. Yes...I only did it to help. Is Fapalah all right? * Rakeesha growls thoughtfully Laxafti, we will speak of this later. Yes, father. Well, can we get back to the castle? I'd like to see what's going on in the observatory. Yes, I'd like to see. * Rakeesha shakes her head, and starts back for the castle * Simmba follows Rakeesha * RafflesOG follows * RafflesOG wants to know if her twin Fapalah is alright * Turlough moves over to the Doctor * Harry_Sullivan follows the Doctor, full of questions You're counting on Newton's third law to save your skin, aren't you? * Doc7 looks at Turlough Hmm? * Doc7 smiles ***** * Soon everyone arrives No, *I* want to have a look! * Rowra tries to peer through the telescope eyepiece * Torresh hastily scribbles calculations All right... you can have a look, Rowra. Thank you. * eyepiece shows a nice pyrotechnics display with small meteors Ooooooooh... * Rowra is enthralled * Rowra bangs her arm on the counter and screams in pain Careful of your arm, Rowra. Where is that royal medic, anyway? I sent for him before we arrived... he still hasn't shown up. He is slow, the dolt! Yes... but I hear that the stranger, Harry, is a medic, too. * Rakeesha sends a guard to hurry the medic along * Turlough arrives in the room * Torresh turns at Turlough's entrance Maybe Dr. Sullivan can look at the arm, Rowra. * Rowra turns Turrrlough! Aaah, there you are, Turrrlough. * Torresh turns back to his observing Impressive view? * Harry_Sullivan enters It is lovely...but frightening. What is this I hear about a broken arm? * Turlough moves over to the telescope * Rowra sighs and looks down at her arm I think I fractured my arm when I was opening the water valve. Ah-ha! Would you allow me to look? Of course. * Rowra gingerly holds out her arm for inspection * Harry_Sullivan inspects the arm Hmmm... it's only fractured. Do you have bandages? And a sling? I'm an astronomer, not a doctor. * RafflesOG offers her sash as a sling * Torresh turns and hands Harry a first aid kit * Rowra smiles at Raffles Ah... thanks Torresh, Raffles. Thank you, Raffles. You are too kind. * RafflesOG grins * Harry_Sullivan wraps Rowra's arm in a bandage * Harry_Sullivan then places Rowra's arm in a sling Thank you, Harry, this feels much better. * Rowra smiles at him No problem, Rowra. * Laxafti looks on from the back of the group, curious Princess, Rowra will be fine... you don't have to worry. * Turlough calls loud enough to be heard in the hallway: So, Doctor, are you going to explain things to these good people? I think you explained it well enough. * Doc7 whispers to Turlough: I'll explain everything back in the TARDIS. He didn't explain anything! Yes... he didn't explain one detail. Suffice to say, the meteorite is destroyed and your planet is safe. And now, if Harry is done with Rowra we must be going. I've finished, Doctor... You must be going? * Laxafti is crestfallen Yes, princess... * Harry_Sullivan looks sad * Laxafti would ask to come with them, but that might lead to a romantic relationship in the TARDIS, which of course is a no-no * RafflesOG growls something about "good riddance to bad rubbish" Well, it was a pleasure knowing you, Harry Sullivan. Likewise, Princess... Laxafti. * Laxafti smiles shyly * Laxafti gives Harry a quick kiss on the cheek * Harry_Sullivan blushes * Laxafti walks over to stand with her parents * Rakeesha looks at Laxafti Daughter, we have much to talk about... * Laxafti hugs her mother Yes, mother, I know. * Simmba looks down at Laxafti and sighs * Doc7 tips his hat to everyone Pleasure meeting you all. * Rakeesha extends a hand to the Doctor * Doc7 takes Rakeesha's hand Thank you for your help, even if you methods were mysterious. * Simmba nods to all Rowra, Torresh, thanks for the ride. It was fun. Well, some of it was. * Rowra bids adieu to Turrrlough * RafflesOG sneers then grins You have saved our planet - we owe you an immense debt of gratitude. Yes, thank you for your help. Your majesty, thank you for your understanding, too. We thank you for saving our planet. * RafflesOG thinks "thank you" sounds a bit weak considering... * Doc7 smiles You're welcome. * Harry_Sullivan wonders where the Doctor left the TARDIS * Doc7 looks at Harry and Turlough Come along, you two. Yes, we'd better go, Doctor. * Harry_Sullivan walks to the door * Doc7 heads off for the TARDIS * Laxafti waves goodbye to Harry * Turlough waves to all and follows the Doctor Good bye, outlanders! * Harry_Sullivan waves to all and follows * Simmba nods regally * Rakeesha hopes this is it for excitement for a while * Laxafti sighs Oh well. It wouldn't have worked anyway. * Simmba looks down at Laxafti and snorts ***** Harry, you should have stayed with Laxafti. Why, Turlough? You're better off with her than some human. Really?? * Harry_Sullivan doesn't know what to think * Doc7 waits till he's sure no one is following and them and that no other Lahrans are around. Then he turns to Turlough as he continues to walk. What part of "don't interfere" do you fail to understand? All of it. * Doc7 enters the TARDIS * Turlough follows with Harry I don't understand why you're acting like God. That little power boost you created nearly caused this planet's destruction. And it almost killed Laxafti and I... not to mention the Doctor. And if you hadn't gotten the power, none of it would have worked. What's more, if you'd TOLD me what your plan was... But no, you have to be the only one who knows what's going on. I knew this was going to happen so when the last time I was here, I snuck into the pyramid and set up the equipment. No one ever goes in there so no one would've noticed. I set the system up on a timer of sorts: slowly build power and then emit the pulse to destroy the meteorite. * Harry_Sullivan stares at the arguing pair But you weren't expecting it to be so massive, were you? If the meteorite had stayed on the course and timing as I had projected it to, you would never have needed to know about it. Orginally it was to arrive during their festival of lights. The pulse would've gone off during the festival and no one would've noticed its origin. Mass had nothing to do with it. What about this planet's orbit? * Harry_Sullivan tries to comprehend the explanation Hmm...? The mass of the asteroid has surely changed the orbit now. It wasn't changed enough for any effect to be felt. Not yet, but it will be. They won't live long enough for those effects to be felt. But I don't see why you should ever listen to my suggestions Doctor, I'm only a highly qualified astro- physicist. * Turlough leaves the console room and goes off to sulk in his room * Turlough hits the walls a few times with his fist on his way there * Doc7 sighs as Turlough leaves Because if you had been in the room when it exploded you'd be dead. * Harry_Sullivan peers at the controls * Harry_Sullivan moves a hand to a control Harry... * Harry_Sullivan casually flicks a switch * Doc7 sighs Harry, how many times have I told you not to touch the controls? * Harry_Sullivan smiles slowly * Doc7 puts in a heading and activates the TARDIS * TARDIS goes off to another destination Now, if you will be so kind as to not touch any other buttons, I need to go take care of Turlough. OK, Doctor. * Harry_Sullivan gives the console another look as the Doctor leaves * Doc7 goes off to Turlough's room What happens if I press this switch...? HARRY...! * Harry_Sullivan looks innocent and backs away from the console * Doc7 turns back towards the hallway and heads for Turlough's room * Doc7 knocks on Turlough's door Mind if I come in? Sure, come in. * Doc7 opens the door and finds Turlough sitting on his bed I went there a long time ago and set up a system that was supposed to take care of everything. The only reason why we went there was to make sure it would work. If everything had gone according to plan you never would've noticed a thing. Before the meteorite would even be in range to be noticed it would've been destroyed. The Lahrans never knew I set up the equipment there, it being highly more sophisticated than they're current technology. That I noticed. I stuck it all in the inner room and sealed it so no one would ever see it. The equipment though was incredibly senstive, odds being that no matter the amount of power it would've exploded when the pulse was emitted. But the fact is, they DID notice the asteroid. And leaving it wait til the festival would have been too late. I still see no reason for my not being told of your plan. But, hey, it's your time machine. You can do whatever you want. Because the asteroid come in before it was supposed to. Orginally the it was supposed to arrive on the very edge of their detection by the festival and the emitter was to have been at full power and fire on it. Once the time table changed things got more dangerous and I couldn't afford to involve you or anyone else. Sure, whatever. I just didn't like being against you. And I did? I think you'd know me by now to know that I would save them as long as it was in my power to do so. Well, next time you have some plan up your sleeve, just tell me. Trouble is, how do I know when it isn't in your power? * Doc7 turns to leave You'll know. * Turlough lays down on the bed and thinks about things ::ending credits for second episode::
